If it were my tree, I would chop off the part above the fruit, take the fruit off and repostion the plant in the pot so that the tree stands straight up. I see it's ready fro more growth!

Is that lemon too heavy for such a small tree? I just bought this tree in January and not sure how to take care of it. I was looking forward to the one lemon that I got. It's been growing since the winter. Btw, I am in Indiana so it will stay potted.

You could leave the fruit, and just use a stick and nylon to support the tree until after the fruit ripens, but I see new growth and that is why I would cut it back now. Just my opinion while others may do differently. That new growth will grow straight up leaving you with an ackward tree shape. If you cut it back now and stand the tree up straight, that new growth will grow accordingly.
