Thanks Nancy. I'll have to take a better picture of mine since the way the light hits it it looks lighter than it really is. Will look up the black coral and compare.

Took more pics. It's darker in real life. I looked up the Sandy and the Coral and can't tell the difference between the two. I'm such a novice.

As far as I know, there is no, repeat no, such thing as S.trif. 'Zeylanica'. There is a species, originally from Sri Lanka, termed S.zeylanica. Incredibly rare, I saw one photo of this of FB, a collector's item. So what really is this 'Black Princess Sandy'? It seems an open question to me.

So, Basia, what is this "Zeylanica" plant sold across the USA in box stores?

That doesn't make sense - S. trifasciata is mostly green - not the grayish color of "Zeylanica." Interesting.

Color od S.trifasciata depends on the lighting - I happen to own a plant with nearly black leaves. Most people think that it is 'Black Coral'.

Look up "Sansevieria Lovers European Group" on FB and the thread https://www.facebook.com/groups/SansevieriaEuropean/permalink/695393877337754/ . It is the single place showing a photo of true S.zeylanica. And discussion led by experts in the field is truly interesting.
