Pools & Spas Design Dilemma

Built in Spa Next to Pool

I am building a 7 X 8 ft gunite spa parallel to my pool. The 8 foot side of spa is parallel to pool separated by coping. I am trying to figure out how to do seating and if I should put any steps. My builder is trying to talk me into doing seating along 3 sides of hot tub only and not the side that is next to pool because of cramped leg room. I feel like I would be losing valuable seating. It would be nice to have steps or some configuration that allowed you to sit higher up in the water if hot. Does anyone have any opinions or pictures?

We generally run a bench all the way around. It provides more seating and more jets. Some clients in the past did not want the 4th bench as they wanted to be able to stand and soak.

We have made benches 2 different heights for shorter folks access to jets. Another option is to set some jets at different heights and keep the bench a constant height.

Adding an interior step will take away some seating depending on the location and size of the step.

Kinda' no matter the spa size, users feet and legs will touch-unless the spa is GIANT!
