What will it hang above? I usually opt for vertical myself. Horizontal often looks like it should be part of a bedroom dresser to me. You probably need a credenza, console or chest beneath it.

Center it 5' above the floor of 5" above a piece of furniture. The wainscot may be an issue for hanging it alone, so centering at 5' may not work so well.

decoenthusiaste Yes I need something under it, it's a l128 inch wall so have not found anything yet. The other wall has 2 windows. Going to make it a sitting area. Thanks

I am not seeing anything worth reflecting and usually a mirror is hung after the furniture is in place I agree that is a much better spot for art than a mirror
