It has nice shape, Kelley! Enjoy growing it! I grafted a Valencia bud on my Friendship tree from Brian's cutting, it is growing slow, because the Shiranui bud from Amy took over and growing really large now. The tree has funny shape to it now, I will have to make a decision on that branch. Hoping to air layer the large Shiranui branch, that took over. Today I noticed two flower buds on it, it is a very vigorous grower.

Why the name Smith Red?

It is named Smith Red because it came from Mrs .Smith's California Valencia orange tree as a branch mutation.

Lol, thanks Bob! That’s an ‘85 C10 - my husband’s truck in high school. He’s currently restoring it, albeit slowly.

I currently have 33 trees lol. I need to get rid of a few, including my Variegated eureka and regular eureka. It’s going to be a tight fit in the garage this winter. I’m definitely going to need a greenhouse before next year. My ST lemon is over 6 feet now. Plus, I’ve recently gotten into figs, so I’m in major trouble lol!

Be very careful with figs, it’s worse than citrus. Go easy, cuttings are easy to come by, been through them. Start out with Smith figs, it’s a keeper. I can send you cuttings.

Again , read about them first, than make one choice at a time, for you,in the ground, no containers. If you are going into Asian, Spanish and what not persimmon, let me know, I have the finest there, also in the ground ,no maintenance, just picking.

To to be honest, I haven’t tried a persimmon since I was a child. It was a wild tree growing in a field where we played baseball. I only remember that it was orange and it dried out my mouth lol.

A beautiful and large tree. I was not so fortunate last year. I ordered 2 premium size trees from them and they were small, with tiny trunks and shapes were not great either.

Kelley, don’t forget to advise hubby to put a Corvette engine in that toy of his, than you can get that greenhouse that you need more, tell him we all said so.

Lol Bob! We discussed putting an LS in the truck, but decided that we want to keep this one carbureted. He may bore it to a 383, though. Next one is definitely getting a corvette motor!
