Hello G-Webbers,

I received a beautiful tall lily in a garden swap but can see that it has been totally infested with red lily leaf beetles during the summer season. You can easily see where those buggers have been on this particular plant. So, I cut the plant stem off about 3" from the bulb and washed it gently and thoroughly. I then soaked it in a gallon of water with a half cup of bleach tossed in for good measure. I have disposed of the dirt and the plant's previous stem. This is the first year I have NOT been plagued by lily leaf beetles and I hope to keep it that way. I know that the beetles can winter in the soil, so I made sure to dispose of that. I have the bulb air drying right now and will replant where I would like it to bloom next year in a week or so. Any other advice you can give me on how else to treat the bulb for possible lily leaf beetles? I should be fine now, right? Or no. All and any advice appreciated. Thank you. Debra
