Some Spring Photos

So, spring has officially sprung in the southern hemisphere. Last week this time, there were only one or two buds open, but by yesterday, the first blooms of the spring flush started to open in full glory. I am still waiting for most of my old roses and austins (who are planted in slightly more shaded areas to protect them from our harsh sun) but in the meantime I am enjoying some of the other roses. As seen this morning:

Thank you Sara Ann and Oursteelers!

We moved to our current house in June last year, Apart from a few iceberg trees in front of the fence, a lot of large trees, clivias , aloes and paving, there were not much else in the garden. I did however pot up many of the roses from our previous house and brought them with when we moved. So, the garden is still a work in progress... I really miss my previous garden with its trellises and arches though. I also started it from scratch, and by the time we relocated last year, it was just starting to reach maturity after five years (when we originally moved there, it was a newly built house where no previous garden existed, just open veld). Our current house does however have a larger garden, but I still miss all my mature rose bushes and other plants. :-)

L G, the garden and roses are beautiful! And just in time for us northerners! Our gardens are starting to really wind down now so your lovelies are very welcome to see!

Evelyn, Dainty Bess and Celine Forestier are the only ones I have heard of. So many beautiful and unique roses in your Southern Hemisphere garden! Leonie Lamesh looks like an orange camellia! Really fabulous!

So many unusual beauties and SUCH a gorgeous garden that already looks mature. I'm sure it will spring into life this season. Thanks for the pic of Heathcliff. I feel like I'm the only one growing him and he's so hard to capture. Are you going to be adding arches, etc. to this garden? Your birdbath is really nice, btw.

LG, beautiful roses and garden. You are so lucky to have access to Ludwig's Rose nursery. They have so many beautiful European roses that US rose growers can only admire from afar. There're a few roses like Riana Joubert that HelpMeFind doesn't have a pic, it would be great if you want to share those on HMF. Thank you for sharing. Helen

I really enjoyed your garden tour. The roses & companions are wonderful! And as others have said, it's nice to see the different international roses too.
