No, you are definitely not the only one sad to see the charm of the old bathroom destroyed. Certainly, some of its retro look could have been updated.

Not alone, I love the vintage bathrooms with funky colors. They are old enough now that they are “retro” as opposed to dated. New bath is nice but nothing memorable.

This vintage Ming green bath was the value! White completely took away the charm… wow…

A good example of “before” being better than “after.”

Please tell me this didn't all go into a dumpster.  This feels like change for change sake. The sink, I would have maybe put a skirt on it or given more distinct legs but unless there was damage not seen in the pictures, I would only have have given it a good cleaning and regrouted just because unless it had been done, grout does kinda have a life span.  The after looks sterile.

This just broke my heart. I'm actively designing my bathroom with the "before" Wes Anderson vibes... I get that it's not everyone's taste, but I wish this bathroom could have gone to someone who appreciated its charm Ὁ4

Agree I looked and thought the same thing and was wondering if I would see the sentiment in the comments.

I just had my bathroom painted in my cabin from orangey pine to a grayish white and immediately missed the wood. I should have sanded and re stained.

I also just noticed the medicine cabinet in the before, Yikes.  I would also tried to return to a medicine cabinet that matched the period.

Urg. Don’t know what after looks like but I’d take just about anything over the before. As the saying goes, can’t argue taste!

The good thing is the majority of the items were donated.

This was the destruction of TWO vintage bathrooms. Oh, my heart.

It would've been nice to see the tub. I don't understand why you wouldn't include the tub in a before picture. The shower  curtain is nice, just not in  this bathroom. It looks drab with the green.

The light fixtures, now that I look at them closer, don't appear original. 

I suppose in the grand realm of cosmic, universal possibility I could be wrong, although it woùld be a first. It just seems to me I remember bathrooms of the period had the light over the medicine cabinet. It made men's shaving easier. Please tell me if I am incorrect, I just remember a fixture that was usually a rectangular smoked glass fixture, a sort of neuvo-ish shaped rectangular glass with a fairly short little ball chain to pull.

That would drive me insane. I couldn't just be grateful that I was lucky enough to have an indoor toilet, that seat would eventually give me a facial tic.

If one couldn't be gotten from salvage then my garage would probably have a dozen random seats, each with some new attempt at getting a better match than stark white.

This hurts my heart. As someone who owns a 1958 house with green tile bathroom, these bathrooms were so well built and are works of art. The “after” is trendy and bland and will look dated in 5 years. The “before” is timeless. Please preserve these bathrooms!
