Here’s a short video of the green inch-like worms.

No video came through for me. I wish the images weren't so blurry.

I'm wondering if we're looking at some sort of sawfly larvae and the subsequent frass. I think that I detect their typical skeletonizing damage.

Whatever they are, they are not desirable. Take off all the affected leaves, tie them up in a plastic bag, and toss them far, far away from the plants.

Might it be a fungus, or type of scale?

Do they come off easily, or do they stick to the leaves?

P.S. those little green 'worms' look a lot like hoverfly larvae - a beneficial insect that preys on pests.

I thought it looked like soggy aphids and syrphid larvae too. If you have more, can you photograph them dry? :)

I have a video but unable to post here. The black things are easy to remove manually. I have removed the infected, weepy leaves and have never seen hoverflies in my yard (I inspect everything). If they return on other leaves, I will photograph them dry.

Speaking of hoverflies, I had a horde of them that would come out every year at my old house. I haven't seen many here, and I miss their glistening green bodies shining in the sun. So pretty, and they don't hurt a thing. Great little pollinators. I wonder if there are hoverflies in Mexico? There have to be.
