We get woolly plantain as a typical "weed" here. It's a pretty diminutive little plant and unless you find a nice sized "colony" of it (which happens from time to time), you might not even even see it.

According to BONAP, it is an introduced species in Illinois. But, if I remember next year to pay attention to when seeds are ready I can try to collect some for you.

Hi Zach, how's it going? I wasn't sure whether P. patagonica was native to Illinois or not. It does grow in a few areas 40 or more miles away. I thought maybe if I had time I'd go look for some, but if you happen to find some seeding plants I'd be most appreciative and could give you something for trade too. I have to revise this list. The only plants I still want are the final 3 of my rare native milkweeds. Once you start a thread here on houzz, you can't ever delete it. I can't delete this thread or change the heading. Update, I'm looking for seeds or plants of Asclepias amplexicaulis, Asclepias lanuginosa and Asclepias meadii. I have many native seeds and plants to trade. PM if interested.

Yeah, I've sort of looked around for it we then I have been further out but haven't spotted any. I have to keep my eyes glued to the ground, and only in open areas where it would be likely to grow. If it ever was native right around my area then it must have all been wiped out. Probably more likely that it was never around here. I have a new book that should have information about any colonies in the state. I'm looking for the milkweeds at other places now. The milkweed forum here is dead. I have about 3 different ecotypes of Asclepias speciosa. I think people assume wooly plantain is more a southwestern species because it looks like it is, but I think it grows even up in Minnesota. I was looking for Acmispon americanum and couldn't get seeds. I searched instead for Spanish Clover and some seeds popped up. I'd like to get all the native Illinois milkweeds, and then maybe get involved in trying to reintroduce the rarer species back into the wild.

I'm also interested in A. amplexicaulis. I found lots of them in a native plants meadow growing in the cleared area around the power transmission lines, here in Central Virginia. I'm assuming it is hard to germinate.
