42” seems huge to me. My dishes fit in a 24” wall cabinet!

@njay If we do the right plan, we will put a 27 cabinet with two roll outs in it. Yes. Part of the roll outs will be under the counter. It is not that convenient.

@emilyam819 I am worried about being too big too. But we have framed cabinet, it is only 37" inside the drawer for a 42" drawer cabinet.

But one sad thing I found out today is that the drawer box from the cabinet line I order can only hold 40 pounds. If I put dishes in those 42" drawer, it is going to be over 40 pounds I believe.

I understand- still huge. I also much rather having normal sized drawers so each type has its own drawer. In your case, plates in one and bowls in another. Then you wouldn’t have to build muscle mass hauling open a huge drawer when you just need a saucer.

If you haven’t yet, measure your items. See how much fits in a 24, 30, 36. And if you determine you need huge drawers (although I guess the 42” is out?), make sure you get the heavy duty glides and very long pulls.

Can you post your whole layout? Maybe there are options you haven’t thought of.

Does 24" drawer fit all of your dishes?

I did calculation. Both one 42" and two 24" drawers can hold all my dishes, except some wired shape ones considering most common sizes of dishes are 10-11", 8", and 6".

Oh yes, I commented on your other post but I didn’t realize this was you too. So don’t you need this drawer for pots and pans?

@emilyam819 No. I have my pots and pans in the three drawer cabinet underneath the cooktop and the corner lazy susan by the cooktop for some tall ones.

I would flip the sink and dw so that when the dishwasher is open someone can still stand at the range.

If you use a 3336 super susan then you go to a 39” drawer base (if available in this cabinet line. This will give you wider opening for the super susan.

Consider using an easy reach cabinet in the left corner upper cabinets. It will look better in this layout because you don’t have a cabinet on the right of the diagonal corner cabinet.

Shoot, you won’t be able to open the drawers at the same time as the dishwasher if the DW is on the right. Hmmm (drumming fingers).....

@mainenell I did change the upper corner to easy reach and they are a lot expensive than the angled cabinet. If I switch sink and DW, DW will block the drawer on peninsula which I am planing to store my dishes. It is even worse. Unless I put the sink and dishwasher on peninsula, DW has to block something. Putting the sink and the dishwasher on peninsula will make the aisle between peninsula and wall oven cabinet narrower and will make the people sitting on peninsula facing the sink when there is dirty dishes in it, it is even worse.

IMO a 42” drawer is too big. I have aton of pots and dishes and find a 36” is as big as I want also when you get into those huge drawers the weight becomes an issue ans so does the type of pull you need

For the cabinet facing the dining table, consider drawers there. Surely you use napkins, and they are also convenient to hold candles and a lighter (we use votives at the table every night, kinda nice, but you can also have the birthday napkins and candles handy), salt and pepper, specialty serveware, batteries, flashlight, etc.

How about an 18" and a 30"? I have an 18" stack of 4 drawers, which is perfect for small utensils, bags and wraps, dish towels, and a larger bottom drawer (we use it for potatoes and rolling pins).

Definitely switch the DW and sink and put a 27" drawer base on the end of the peninsula so that you can get the DW and the drawers open at the same time. The inside width of our dish drawer is 32" and stores three stacks of dinner, salad and appetizer plates, napkin holder, and five stacks of berry, cereal and salad bowls.

@wilson853 The DW will still block the drawer even though we use a 27" at the end of peninsula. If I use a 33" lazy susan+18" three drawer+24" three drawer, there will be enough room for dishwasher to open without clocking the 24" three drawer. But the DW will still block the upper cabinet I am planing to put some glassware and other wired shape dishes.

So infuriating when you lose all your typing! I've just learned a sanity saver here, which works.
