We have our house listed for sale (over $800K). A consistent criticism is the flooring on the basement level which I understand completely. It is concrete covered by cheap rubber interlocking squares. While I thought a potential buyer would like to choose their own flooring, comments keep coming back stating they want the house move-in ready.

There is a bathroom with slate or ceramic tiles, a mud room area, kitchenette and media room all adjoining. Real wood is out due to the basement level. Luxury Vinyl Planks would be easy for a future buyer to pull up if they don’t like it, be low maintenance and coordinate okay with the slate tile, but I worry it will stand out against the real heart pine stairs and look cheap for this price range. Porcelain tile would look nice, but conflict with the adjoining slate in the bathroom and may be slippery as kids come in from the pool as well as not be good for sound absorption in the media room. I thought I could carpet the media room, but am being told I should use one continuous flooring.

Ideas would be greatly appreciated!
