Hyacinthoides non-scripta

I have just spent the last few days planting 1000 H. non-scripta bulbs in a mixed deciduous wood.

Using a dibber, they were planted at a depth of +- 6". Many of them landed right way up, or sideways, but some ended up, upside down. Without digging them out again, there was no way I could correct their orientation.

Question. Are these able to orientate themselves using their contractile roots?

TIA
