Move Curtains Closer to Ceiling??

October 8, 2019

I need to replace all the curtains in my newly bought condo (current ones were handed down from previous owners), but I have been seeing a lot of interior design posts saying that curtains should be close to the ceiling to make your room look bigger. I have been putting off hemming my new long curtains until I make a decision whether to just swap them out or to go through the hassle of making new curtain holes and patching up the old holes to bring up the curtains a little bit higher. Do you think it’s worth it to have them higher?? Another thing to note is all of my curtained windows are all covering big sliding door windows vs. smaller windows so I’m not sure it would even make that much of a difference?

And if I do lift them higher, what do I patch the old holes with? Joint compound?
