The only cons I can think of is that some are posinous to pets if they ingest it.... and some depending where you live can be aggressive... if you are diligent in cutting it back that is GOOD.

I grow lantana in pots in z5 and overwinter them indoors.... with enough light they continue to bloom all winter. I learned that cutting them back forces lush even new growth. Hummingbirds love them. My #1 problem with lantana is that the stems have tiny prickers that can get under my skin and bother me for days, so I need to remember to wear gloves and long sleeves when I'm near them. :)

I love lantana for the bees and butterflies. The butterflies love lantana. I plant a few in pots every year. It is one plant I don’t mind buying. My sister who has passed loved them too so now I plant them in her honor. I wish they wintered over here in Chicago but they are tough and lasts until we get a hard freeze. I have two that are still flowering now. I think anyone would enjoy them.

I started a native butterfly garden at work just this spring. I planted two lantana in the ground to provide nectar sources until the natives got established. The lantana easily quadrupled in size and bloomed crazily until heavy frost. I was not able to provide any irrigation, but we did get generous rains all summer.
