What to do with extra space at the end of tub/shower??

Any ideas on what to do with 5-6" inches of extra space at the end of a 30x60" alcove tub/shower? Picture are even better! My contractor suggested a shelf or ledge, but I can't quite visualize this and whether it would make sense to have a shelf that extends level with the tub deck or a ledge that is raised.. I see lots of fabulous ideas with 12"+, but I have less than half of that space. I cannot go further into the wall to steel more space to add to my 5-6" because it is an exterior wall.

Are you tiling the tub/shower? If so then a ledge is great in lieu of a niche.

So the ledge will be perfect for shampoo, etc. you are lucky. Most people don’t have the extra space for something like this.

When my kids were little, they had so much fun with their bathtub toys on the ledge alongside the tub. I liked it too as most of the splashes were on that side of the tub. Part of the bath time routine was lining up all the toys alongside the tub before they got out of the tub
