First Frost and June still look fresh..none of my yellowing hosta look outstanding..my coral bark maple and a castor bean plant with pink veins have the prettiest color..

my First Frosts..I couldn't post pics with the post..this is my 3rd try for a comment with pics..I'll do 2 at a time..Houzz killed my June pics with the post..now they're not in my file!

most of them have yellow but aren't pretty yet..just Pineapple Upside Down Cake has missing leaves..deer?..hasn't happened in years..

Castor Bean has pink veins..not much color where I live Lol..

my Sango Kaku Coral Bark maple and a combination planter with a lantana bloom (top) and a begonia bloom (bottom right)..

    time to get to work..

So nice! Not so nice are the deer? munching (it does look like their handiwork to me, I see a lot of that......sigh) Also not nice are the June pics now missing from your file. Do you have a restore option?

thanks peren..I think so but for me it's quicker to take more pics!..I have Junes in 6 spots in front and 2 in back!..it's obvious that I love them..from the front..

    and the back..

Summer Snowlake viburnum has some fall color..is that a Gold Standard?..I've lost track..

can't see much but there's Krossa Regals..Elegans..June..and purple coneflowers by my mailbox..

Maybe that is your lost Paul's Glory under your viburnum

I've considered that..but the center never gets light enough to be a PG..

take a look at tsugajunkie Old friends thread for comparison of PG and GS https://www.houzz.com/discussions/2056633/old-friends

Which ever you have it isn't get much light stuck underneath that shrub. I too have difficulty telling the two apart except for October when my GS turns pure gold.

thank you that link was helpful..as I've thought all along..I have Paul's Glory TAGS but no Paul's Glory..I have Gold Standards..too bad since I think Paul's Glory is prettier..I agree that underneath a shrub isn't a good location for a hosta!..there's another one further to the right that's almost disappeared..they looked pretty before the shrubs grew..

oursteelers..thank you!..you're right..it is tucked in amongst the trees..if I ever move I would definitely miss the setting..

All your pictures are lovely regardless of what might be ending it’s color cycle. The June’s still look great, they are also a favorite of mine.....we had freeze last night and they say we may have snow next Thursday...... :-(

djacobz..thank you..nature is beautiful isn't it?..we have another week before a drop in temperatures..it's raining today and bringing down leaves..I won't be outside today..the view from my kitchen window..the green "blob" in the middle of the path is a bunch of self seeded hellebores that need to be moved..I wish I could catch up Lol..

my Japanese maple is so wet and droopy..it's almost resting on the deck rails..

I love both of the maples, gorgeous color on them.

I did not say underneath a shrub isn't a good location for a hosta. Anyplace you can get a hosta to survive is an okay location. I, too, have had hostas disappear over time. I attribute that primarily to poor location though there could always be other factors involved. My Paul's Glory seems to thrive everywhere and anywhere. PG is my most prolific funkia. I am surprised your PGs didn't survive.

never had a PG..the tags were wrong and I wasn't knowledgeable enough to pick up on it..I had some August Moons that were shaded out and disappeared as some shrubs grew..I do think underneath a shrub isn't the best location..

the rain stopped..my maple is dry and isn't drooping..a green grasshopper?..the glass distorts my pic..tried 10 times and can't get a sharp image..

nw, so after all that do you think a paul’s glory will be in your neat future? Have you started a list for spring? Or is that more of a dead of winter thing, when you’re trapped in the house by the snow and ice?

oursteelers..before I buy any new hosta I have quite a few to move..no list but there are others that I would rather have than Paul's Glory (Liberty..Waterslide..Joy Ride) you're right..dead of winter dreaming and planning works better for me..it's closer to spring..

nw, I have both liberty and waterslide but they are babies so they don’t look like any of the photos I see here. Joy ride is one I’m going to have to research. Thank you! I love researching hostas!

babies are fun..you can watch them grow!..saw this today on a Facebook group..isn't this Atlantis gorgeous?..

Oooh, that is beautiful! I will never understand how people don’t live hosta. They are so lush to me

this woman has FABULOUS hostas..I've seen lots of her pics..on American Hosta Society on Facebook..the same name as one you pay to join but free to join and follow on FB..I just started following some garden groups since Houzz is so annoying..

The picture thing is the most annoying for me. I’ve tried posting pictures to both this and the Rose forum.

Someone suggested downsizing the photos but that doesn’t sound like fun. I should be shredding leaves anyway

Nw, nice fall pics! Last week did make significant difference for me... things are going downhill...

I love seeing FB pics from Europe, they have some different varieties.
