Wow! After warmer than norm temps here it seems we are jumping right into cold weather here, especially starting tomorrow. Probably close to normal, just a shock to my system. No snow, thank goodness!

Noooo! The weather predicts snow for us tomorrow. Hopefully that will be just flurries. I am not ready for this! (Actually, I am never ready for it--I hate winter!)

Sherry that is a shock to the system! It will likely melt allowing you to finish up what you need to do outside. It is unusually early for you to have snow.

Surprisingly, it has been quite nice here but Friday is supposed to bring a mix of snow/rain. I have so much cleanup to do in the garden so I am hoping for an extended fall. We deserve it since we had snow from Oct./Nov. on last year and a super cold spring as we laughingly called it.

Laurie, I remember notes being compared on the forum, yes our weather winter through spring here was exactly what you had. I just wasn’t ready for the snow, not sure I ever am.

Oh Wow Sherry! I hear you when you say you are not ready. Are we ever ready ? Climate change doesnt seem to manifest when you want it to. ( i.e. extending our fall weather would be nice! ) I wonder if we will see the same thing. We are predicted to have rain for the next several days but if you got snow in Northern Illinois then it is entirely possible it is heading this way .

I feel your pain. It was 75 degrees here on Saturday. I did get a lot done, but no where close to finished. Sunday it started snowing and it just finished snowing this morning around 10:00AM. Three days of snow. I'm already over it.

oh Sherry..ugh..I'm dreading having snow..and it's coming soon..your hanging basket covered in snow makes me sad..

It's still fall and we're breaking records for the cold. We had two nights of hard freeze starting Oct. 9. Way too early. We've had snow twice, and last night we had a low of 9F (-12C). Today we stayed below freezing so no snow could melt off. Getting warmer tomorrow and through the weekend, thank goodness!

Watched the news last night . I think I would rather have what you got Sherry than what those poor folks in California are dealing with right now even though I am not one of those people who like snow.

I agree Signet! I have good friend who’s family got evacuated for five days. Last I heard they were lucky, no damage for them.

The weather forecasters weren’t totally accurate, had snow flurries overnight, maybe only another inch of snow here. Other areas in N. Illinois and surrounding states got several more inches of snow.

Looks more like Christmas than Halloween. We're getting a freeze tonight. I agree, it's much too early for this!

That's just crazy and you're too close to me - but far enough that we don't have snow in the forecast - yet.

Still glad we moved from California 4 years ago. Although, we never lived in the wild fire zone, the air still gets so polluted that sometimes the sun just looks like a dull red orb and you wake up with ashes on your car. OK, that only happened to us once out there, but it is still not good for the lungs.

bllaah! I'm guessing you get lake effect there? I'm close to Lake MI on the East side but haven't had any accumulation yet. Hoping for a hard frost before the snow so the leaves turn to mush for an easy clean up.

We rarely get lake effect snow where I’m at, about 35 miles west of Chicago.

We had snow in Milwaukee area as well. It’s sticking to ground but sidewalks are melted today. Early snow for us. I heard it’s been 150 years since it snowed on Halloween!

Actually, only 93 years since snow in Milwaukee on Halloween ;-). It was the most snow in 150 years of record keeping. And, no, I don't remember the last one...
