2014...Calling all New Years resolutions;)) Testify!!
Comments (339)Glad this is working for you Ann...it is an eye opener when entering food...you discover what you can eat a lot of to feel full. I ate a lot of watermelon and I like salads with chicken, steaks, etc. on it...I discovered a salad dressing that I love that had no calories, no sugar, etc...it's called Walden Farms...I like the honey mustard. Even Hubby, who always pooh-poohs such stuff, thinks it's good...he likes the Caesar...but it's sometimes hard to find....See MoreHelp select a glam wallpaper and paint
Comments (98)Your room looks beautiful. I can picture fresh flowers in that middle vase, like a bunch of lavender hydrangeas and white tulips spilling over in the spring, or white roses and pine in winter! Good luck with the basement...I know how time and money get sucked into the next project! We've been renovating different parts of our house for years! Lol. Tell us when you start a new thread for your basement! I'd like to follow your progress. :)...See MoreMixing rustic / glam
Comments (11)You have made a beautiful start. You should have no trouble mixing one or two mirrored pieces in with the lovely selection you now have. They are ubiquitous these days, so you should have no trouble finding them on a Houzz search. They will blend beautifully. If you feel any lack of coordination, place a mirrored tray on your dining table and put an organic element on your mirrored cocktail table - maybe antlers in a bowl. Your gray walls will benefit greatly from some artwork to bring color, character and soul to the room. I wouldn't skimp on art since these are public rooms, and an investment in original art will elevate your decor. I usually recommend giclees and other prints for bedrooms and less public spaces, and original art for living and dining rooms. You can check here for large original artwork: https://www.houzz.com/projects/1295077/art-original-abstract-paintings Many more pieces at the link above. Good luck and please post your progress! Your choices thus far suggest excellent instincts so I look forward to seeing your decisions!...See MoreCalling all creative thinkers...help!
Comments (35)Julia, please don't think I'm over reacting or criticizing but I wouldn't let my kids play in a room that didn't have a proper egress window. If there was a fire upstairs while the kids were playing, there's no window in that space to escape from. If you want to make the space safe for them, consider installing a proper window with a fire ladder so they can get out in an emergency if needed. I would also worry that the space isn't properly sealed off from the garage below. Finished space above a garage requires that the garage have 5/8" fire rated Type X drywall on the walls and the ceiling of the garage that is taped and mudded. It's to prevent any possible garage fire from moving too quickly to the floor above and also to prevent any carbon monoxide fumes from leaking up into the room above. It's just a word of precaution. Please take it in the spirit in which it was intended....See MoreBobbyAnn
