I would put your money into having some wide crown molding added and paint it out white..the simple arch is very pretty...to save money....you can add a small piece of molding onto wall about 10-12” Down from ceiling and paint it white and paint the area above the molding up to ceiling all white..it gives the illusion of wide crown molding and will enhance your archway.

I really like that idea, my only concern is that the living room is not square. The 15ft ceiling are open in the living room, entry, and to the stairs. I am not sure how you could transition the molding to the walls of the stairs since it's an opening.

The molding would end at the staircase on both sides..

I noticed another possible issue. If a 10 or 12 inch molding was added, will it conflict with the transom windows since they are less than two ft from the ceiling? See last picture.

You can adjust the size of the molding if needed but with a 10” drop you will still have 14” space above your transom window..it will look amazing.

I'd be so tempted to square off the arch at a higher point. Are there a lot of arches in your home?

Not alot however enough for uniformity.
