How many slabs did you look at .Are you talking quartz or quartzite slabs ? Your question is a bit confusing. Is this what you mean by the x's That is just the way that slab and material look

Lin Mg, I finished a kitchen reno a few months ago. I didn't want a busy countertop and didn't want to limit myself to gray. I was looking to combine white with cream, taupe and gray. I searched high and low for the countertop and backsplash. I ended up doing quartzite, called Taj Mahal. It's beautiful, but being a natural stone, there are imperfections in it. Lots of divets that needed filled in and comparing to granite, I feel the granite seemed more solid (not as many divets) and smoother. But I fell in love with it and couldn't find another countertop that I loved as much. I'm really happy with how it all turned out.
