What is this?

We have lived in this house (Tampa area) for almost 40 years. Today I found these 3 ’things’ under our very tall magnolia tree. When cut open there is a strong citrus smell. From an internet search the closest I could find was Passion Fruit? If so, where did they fall from? If not, any idea what they are? Thank you.

    They are Passionfruit. I used to have that variety, yellow shell thicker and harder than the more common ones. Difficult for birds to get into, apart from parrots. There must be some growing nearby, they can't fall far from the parent plant. Unless carried by an animal.
