Boscobel (AUScousin), a David Austin rose, bred by David Austin in 2011 in UK and introduced in 2017 in Australia. 3.5-inch blooms with salmon-pink color, moderate myrrh fragrance and have up to 78 petals. I was hesitated about the color of this rose in the beginning, but it has won me over. Helen

Amazing. Boscobel is my favorite david Austin rose bloom. If only it was as healthy as Olivia, I would plant hundreds of them for flower arrangements. Here is defoliates from blackspot without spray. I still love it.

I have a different experience with Boscobel vs Olivia. Both are healthy because my roses in this desert climate don't have fungal disease problems. But Boscobel is the much better rose in my garden, as it out blooms Olivia with its large, striking blooms. Olivia not only blooms less, her blooms are smaller and kind of a sickly pale pink in our desert sun. I know this is contrary to many forum members experience with Olivia, but I'm just being honest about my experience. Most pale roses don't show as well here as brighter roses. Diane

Helen, your photos are gorgeous. As you can read above, Boscobel is tops in my book. I've always liked Bishop's Castle, and wanted to grow it in the past. I will have to appreciated your plant instead, I guess. Diane

Diane I want to move to your neighborhood. I love the way your roses look there and Boscobel is certainly a beautiful star. I don’t think everyone realizes what a huge difference the area makes in the performance of the roses until they start gardening (I never did). Olivia def likes the more humid weather to keep her cool pretty pink I think. I wish Boscobel performed better than Olivia in my garden also =). Olivia is very pretty, but I prefer the more medium pink/peach complex color of Boscobel. I am eagerly awaiting Eustacya Vye for 2021 because it reminds me of Boscobel, but somewhere online I read that she was getting blackspot. I will still try it.

Kristine your Olivia is beautiful and that’s the reason I ordered Olivia. Looking forward to hearing how Boscobel does in your area. It is a gorgeous rose from the bright peach pink to the soft cool pink when it fades. Olivia is the only Austin in my garden that truly needs no spray of any kind and her leaves are perfect.

Dianela, I know you have black spot issues, but I envy your longer growing season and all that rain! Plus, your roses are wonderful, and the way your garden looks is superb. And, boy, do you have more room to plant--that is a major problem for me. On top of all this, you get to start a new rose garden when you move. You are one lucky girl. And doctor. I don't know how you do it all. I am also awaiting Eustacia Vye (wish the name was a little easier to spell). For some reason, she looked like Augusta Luise to me. Whatever she resembles, she appeals to me most of the new Austins.

Kristine, tell Olivia that Diane is sorry. She is a good girl and very pretty, but her cousin in Idaho needs a talking to in rose language. I'm glad you're going to try Boscobel, and he'd better be a good one for you, too, or I'll feel awful. I wish I had your space to try so many new roses. Diane

Ohh Diane you are just too kind. Your garden is a masterpiece and has inspired me greatly. I completely butchered the Eustacia name even when the correct spelling is just like it sounds in Spanish lol. I guess I tried making it more English sounding in my mind and failed . I wish I could send you some good rain your way without the lingering humidity. My doctor days have been very slow going lately. I am on the final stretch with very mild rotations away from home which are intended to give me solid study time. I see myself spending too much time reading the rose forum instead of studying for my 16 hour exam. All my avoiding is not beneficial, so in the next few days I may just have back off from here and study hard for the next few months. Looking forward to continue all the awesome gardening and learning here afterwards.

Kristine that’s a hard decision. I have not seen hot cocoa in person, but Veterans honor looks magnificent in the Birmingham botanical garden ( I don’t normally like that color). Their specimens looked healthy and the blooms were huge and didn’t burn. Hmmm such a difficult choice but I vote to keep Veterans honor.

Helen thank you for always sharing your magnificent pictures of your magnificent roses. You really should contact some of those rose sellers and offer your photograph. The pictures you post here are better than most rose catalogs get. You are correct about making friends. This site acts so crazy that some times I just want to give it up, but I have not been willing to give up all the wonderful rose friends I made here in the past couple of years. It is very special to share with others who love roses.

Thank you Diane. I wont be officially done until June, but they set it up where we can have good schedules to study from now on. This month I am only doing autopsies from 6am to noon, then have the rest of the day to seat at work and study. I will seat for my exam in May. I will practice always to the best of my abilities with love and compassion.

Thank you Helen, oursteelers and Kristine. I just have to pass this last one and then :) will do lots of gardening. I would appreciate any prayers. A few months isn’t really that long to review everything I hopefully learned in the last 4 years.

Helen, how is the repeat on Boscobel? That warm pink is so intriguing. I have Gentle Hermoine and the blooms really do not do anything for me--Boscobel seems more complex. thanks!

Kathyc, Boscobel is still very young in my garden and has average repeat. Diane’s is more mature, so you can ask her and get a more accurate answer. Helen
