Changes at Northland Rosarium

Some of you may have noticed the Northland Rosarium site is in the process of change. Have you seen this beautiful video? https://rosariumgardencenter.com/ I love this place! No photo can do justice to how truly beautiful it is in person and how lovely Carol and the staff are. Spokane has many parks with great gardens, but this is where I go just to be among the roses. It's my happy place.

What a lovely video, Flowers. I have "Colette" mail ordered for Spring 2020. No special anything was involved in the ordering process. I'm sure the mail order business and the retail center would have been eventually too much for any one entity. I wish them luck. I always have gotten great plants from them, but never been there in person.

Ingrid and Vapor, I'm having the same trouble accessing the video this evening. I can only surmise that they are working on the site and it isn't behaving properly. I apologize for the tease, but I will update as it becomes available again.

Their website is accessible now. It looks nice.

I noticed their David Austin bare root price is high $34.95 - $39.95 compared with Regan is $26.99 (after 10% off if you buy at least 3 mix-match roses, the price is $24.29). Is this the normal price they charge for David Austin roses? Helen

The site is up and running today. Bear in mind they are making a lot of changes, so it could possibly be down again at some point.

I thought those of you who order from Northland might like to 'meet' Carol and get a few glimpses of the display gardens. https://rosariumgardencenter.com/

Helen, I don't have an answer about price of DA roses. Carol is easy to talk to and would answer all your questions.

Sheila, you will love your Colette and I'm sure it will be a magnificent tall climber in your climate. I have 3 own root Colettes from Northland and they are all doing great and bigger than climbers usually get here. Back when I bought the first one, it was classified as z7, but I'm glad I took a chance. Now, most sites say z5. One is a stand alone shrub, the other two are on the picket fence. Be sure to post pics and let us follow it's growth.

Kristine, you'll have to go pick that statuary up in person, and while you're in town, my garden and I would love to meet you.

Flowers , lucky you to be so close to Northland. I spoke to Carol this morning . What a lovely woman. I am so happy that her business is doing so well.

I know that her Austins are more expensive but I already had an order with her so I just went with the extra price.

And Flowers. I would be so excited to visit your garden .

Prices for Austins can vary a lot here at my favorite nursery. The newest, most in demand plants tend to be more expensive. They are also 5 gallon in the pot plants. So size can may a difference, too. We also get a discount for prepaying, and the nursery keeps the plants in a special greenhouse until weather conditions are good. Thanks for the info on Northland, Flowers. Now I need to go take a more detailed look. I'd love to visit them in person. Diane

Diane, I agree with local nurseries where 5-gallon roses can be really expensive (I think Regan has 5-gallon David Austin for $60.) However, in general the price for bare root roses of mail order websites are roughly similar, so I'm a bit surprised that Northland price is higher than the rest. Helen

    DA bare root roses:

    Regan: $26.99 (10% discount for 3+ mix-match roses)

DA website: $28.50 - $30.50 (15% discount code received in Feb)

    Northland: $34.95 - $39.95

Northland sells own root David Austins which account for the higher price. I have found the health and packaging to be excellent and far superior to Heirloom whose prices are even higher for own root!
