Improving curb appeal with a BIG roof!

I'm purchasing a vacation home that has quite a roof and a plain appearance! Low-cost ideas/suggestions for improving curb appeal (that don't require a year-round resident to maintain them, such as plants)? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

I’m all for the dormers to decrease the vast roof area, but they really make most sense if they’re actually useable for your upstairs area. I’m going to suggest shutters, even though they’re a subject here for discussion! For a vacation home in the woods, I’m going even further out on a limb to suggest shutters with a design cutout. Cute! And it brings your eye down to the front, not the roof. A feeble attempt with red shutters on the window and door, but it’s just an idea.

Not sure how low cost it would be... but I’d consider adding 3 faux dormers to add interest. I’d also add a stone veneer to the bottom 1/3 of the wood siding.

Some nice big shutters on the window would also help. And add trim to the door and window.

I’d also suggest 2-3 dormer windows if possible. My home also has a relatively steep roof, but not quite as much.

Define "Low-cost".

I doubt that pointless dormers would be included in that, but you need to specify.

Don't add fake dormers. If it makes sense with the layout of the house, then go for real dormers, but not fake. You should probably get an architect.

I would say hire someone to cut a gap in the concrete in front of the house, and plant a tree that will grow upwards the fastest (while still being native-ish to the area).
