I think the shade will be fine. If you want some dark above it, you might make a valances out of another brown blanket. As for bedside tables, you don't really have room. Start shopping for some sconces to hang above the headboard. These come in different colors.

The shade looks great honestly.

Perfect choice to blend in with your walls and add some texture. A darker color would have chopped up the area more, and taken the focus off your interesting bedding.

I’m not altogether into the art piece above the dresser and can part with it on marketplace. Perhaps I’ll put the basket above the dresser, add lighting//sconces then find a smaller vintage framed oil painting to put at the center..

I don't think the sconces should go over the bed - You don't have enough room with the doorway on the left side. They would not be placed properly - I agree that the basket should not be over the bed - I love the shades.

Design Girl, there’s a window directly on one side of the bed and very little wall space (but some) on the other. The picture im dropping here is what is across from the bed. Two problems currently exist (outside of having a ridiculously small bedroom): a king size bed (my husband’s only “Win” in this bedroom) and an off-centered light. The easily fixable thing is centering the light. Thank you allll sooo much fir your comments & ideas

By that you mean, the lights casts interesting and beautiful shadows.

Agreed; the fixture has been in this room for a few years and will Be repurposed in another room. Any suggestions for a light are welcome. I love mixing Vintage items and don’t have many in this room. I don’t know how designers can stretch their imaginations so much to see possibilities.

I love your room. I love the vibe, the textured things, the blanket. I know what folks mean by saying the light isn't perfectly within the inspiration of the room...but... do you want the room to look over-themed? I do like the shadows from the light. On my screen, the light looks silver toned, and perhaps it could be painted a better color, maybe a rust or a black-brown. But to me, the shape is nice for casting those quirky shadows.

Thank you, Mrs. S. The pendant light is brass (gold tone). The fact that it’s not centered with the bed drives me batty. The shadow play would be more evenly distributed if moved.

IMO sconces are a bit of a hassle to have placed properly and allow no change in bed size or height once done I much prefer lamps and no electrical required ( I don’t like seeing the cords for sconces) I like the shade and forget adding more baskets it is nice to have a bit of a mix instead of all one scheme that starts looking like a set up in a store.I might add a pale blue pillow to the bed to bring in the blue from the painting.

I love your space, good use of contrast in a neutral color scheme. I think your shades look great. I would remove the flower print that's by the basket, I don't think its needed and agree with patricia about adding a pale blue pillow.

Why have I not used this forum more? I probably would have felt greater confidence and not hesitated with a lot of design choices had I sought counsel..

Tartanmeup, the house is a 1948 ranch with tiny bedrooms. The light is in the spot the builder originally placed it, which must be the center of the room. It was off center from our queen size bed when we had that positioned in the same spot. I prefer the headboard where it’s at over than where the dresser is or where the wood pegs are. The entrance to the room is to the left of the dresser and to the right of the wood hanger pegs.

I agree that I run the risk of looking too thematic. i just want it cohesive and comfortable...with style woven throughout. The rug is older and may have a new home at my nieces, so I may change that out for another rug having a warmness to it.. As for lamps, maybe I’ll find some small and/or slim vintage mid-century lamps or earthy cement base lamps; it seems never ending. Thanks so much for the ideas. The search for bedside lighting is on!
