Since you said child, it would seem this not for a baby, but there is a crib? You have a blank slate, so what’s the issue?

How old is the child and what size is the painting?

What a great "first geography class." This may sound strange, but I'd put it on the ceiling above the child's bed. It could inspire adventurous dreams.

It reminds me of my nursery. Primary colors and Noah's ark. I made a simple ruffled valance out of primary rainbow material. I miss it!! I used roller shades for safety in my nursery/child's rooms. Not high fashion but very practical.

Ok, but what age, 1st kid? Maybe you can take a pic of the painting, and take it with you when you shop. You have lots of options, animals, world travel, simple graphic patterns like stars and scallops, lots of colours, could go primary or more neutral, it is all up to you.

First of all, I'd take down that drapery so close to the crib. At some point your child could pull it and the rod down on top of himself, or wrap himself in it in a bad way. In one pic it looks like there is a cord hanging against the drapery, but I can't imagine what it goes to. If it is, it's really a danger to your child and should be removed.

In fact, I'd rearrange the furniture so the crib is away from the window altogether. Too easy to break a window; kids have remarkable ways of doing things we'd barely imagine!

The art is very cute, how large is it? Could you show us the size by balancing it on the bed against the wall, or just set it on top of the brown furniture piece?

animal theme bedding and deco works well for boy or girl and ages well, (what i mean is your daughter will only be into, say Dora, for a bit but who doesnt like animals?)

paint the walls a fun color too. anything goes in a kids room. if old enough let the kid help decide, even if you find 2-3 colors to let him pick from.

You have threads started for several rooms in your house. I think that you should concentrate on one at a time. You say you have no clue how to decorate, so having so many threads is just going to overwhelm you even more.

I agree with Olychick to first move the crib away from the window if that's where your child sleeps. It looks like there could be two walls that will accommodate the picture, so either one would work. And with all the colors in the pic, you really can't go wrong with any color bedding.

If your son sleeps in the crib, remove the bed and put the crib along the wall opposite the doors. If your son sleeps in the bed, remove the crib. If two children share the room, this layout may be the only option but you should downsize to a twin bed and remove the curtain & cord so your LO can't grab it from the crib.

For nighttime feedings or bedtime stories, put a chair between the window and the wall bump-out (chimney?) and a small table under the window next to the chair. Attach a reading lamp to the wall above.

The world map picture goes on the wall opposite the window. Since it's so colourful, I think any paint colour could work, but I'd opt for a soft shade to let the picture "pop". Maybe green or grey? If the trim and closet door still look as yellow as they do after the walls are painted, I'd repaint those a crisp white as well. White curtains and blind is fine to stick with, as long as it's safe for the LO.

To me, the dark blue Toy Story bedding would compete with the dark blue picture. From the decor options shown by J Williams, I like the yellow & grey blanket, zebra rug, and striped laundry basket. Bold graphics but the colours don't overpower.

Just go to IKEA and buy stuff! It's a toddler; kids like everything. All of this will be outgrown in a couple of years anyway. None of this is a permanent commitment. Move the painting every few months, for all he cares.

IMO until Britt comes back with more info I have no clue. But usually a child changes their mind about favorite every year to begin with so my Mom’s plan was white walls bedding in the favorite color of the year and my Dad made huge cork boards for us to use for whatever we wanted to display. I love that piece of art and IMO a goos place to start from I think they will out grow it very quickly then pack it up and save it for when they have kids.
