Sounds like you confirmed my thoughts, thank you! This is only my second winter with adeniums, so I am still a bit uneasy when they react differently than last winter.

Last winter I left mine out until rather late, they started into dormancy by themselves, so I just let them go. An advantage I found was no problem with spider mites, unlike previous years. A disadvantage is that were all late blooming, many just starting now since I have brought them inside. They are all fairly young, from seeds, and maybe they will learn about my climate someday.

@dbarron, what kind of temperatures are your plants getting at night by the window?

I don't really know...I do know the southern sun is warming the pots by day. The house temps are 68, and the outside temps are between 30 and 45 usually.
If I had to guess, the bottom of the pots might be in the 50s, while the tops might spend the most of the night in the 60s (due to holding some heat).

@dbarron At temperatures above 50F you should be able to keep growing the plant.

I have very little Adenium experience, but I had a plant that was growing outside in a sheltered porch in zone 9a. It was thriving even down to 40F, but I was not watering it.

A single watering with the temperature in the low 40s was all it took to completely rot the plant in less than two weeks.

I bring my adeniums inside when outside temperatures get about 40 at nights, and/or day highs are regularly lower than 55. I'm in extremely well-drained mineral based soil (non-peat) and have not had a rot incidence.

I did decide to water yesterday, as leaf growth was continuing and the plant had not been watered for a month (and pot was quite light in weight). I felt that the plant appreciated it, the gloss of the leaves increased in my estimation.
