Painted range hood duct! Can you please tell me how to do this?

How did you prepare the duct for paint and what kind of paint did you use? Thanks very much. I can't find answers to these questions anywhere.

    Never done it myself, but typically people build a sort of casing (of cabinetry, wood, or framing and drywall, possibly with tiles or stucco) to fit around and over the metal hood and duct. This way you don't have to worry about painting directly on the metal and you can achieve a different shape for the cover.
