Care and cleaning for interior faux stone

We are considering installing faux stone around our fireplace. I am concerned that it will attract dust (with all the little ledges) and wonder how a person cleans such a surface. I did search online and found that it can be damaged by the wrong technique / cleansers. Hmmm. Thoughts? Anyone with experience with this material? Suggestions on the better products versus the less expensive, or optimally the best of both - reasonably priced and easy to care for? Thanks!
