Asko Dishwasher Review?

Hi- I am in the process of an extensive kitchen remodel. I am putting in Wolf and Sub Zero appliances, and the dealer has quoted me the Asko dishwasher, model DFI664. The problem is that I can not find any reviews on it... and the reviews I've seen about the brand itself have been mixed and old. I know a lot of people love their Miele dishwashers. Currently I have Kitchenaid, which I HATE, and since I use my dishwasher almost daily, I am pretty anxious to install a great one. Does anyone have feedback about Asko? Asko vs Miele? Something entirely different? We are a big family with a lot of dishes, tupperwares, pots etc. Not too much china and crystal (I handwash those). I would like it to be quiet, of course, but it doesn't need to be silent. I am much more concerned about efficacy of cleaning and drying. Thanks for your help!

I just sold a home that came with a 10 year old Asko. It was a really good dishwasher. The problem with Asko, as I understand it, is it was sold and manufacturing was moved to an entirely different country. Who knows how that affected their quality. Until then, they were of very high quality.

Are the new Asko's as good as they were 10 or 20 years ago? I don't know. And, I had trouble finding out, too. You might check for additional reviews at Yale Appliances.

I'm in a new home with a less than stellar KitchenAid dishwasher. When I replace it, I will select a Bosch. I've had those in year's past, too. I've found the mid-range and upper range units to be excellent. I think they are cost effective when compared to the Miele.

Understand that I don't use most of the fancy cycles found on the upper end units. I do the basic wash for pretty much everything. I would never put my good china or my crystal in anyone's dishwasher.

Our Asko is about three years old now and hands down has been our favorite dishwasher. Very quite, dishes are always clean. We too purchased this with a wolf stove and sub zero refrigerator.

We just finished our kitchen and installed both the Asko DFI664 and the Miele G6785 SCVi SF (Futura Dimension). They both do an excellent job cleaning and drying dishes and are exceptionally quiet. The Miele does do a better job drying; it actually pops the door open a couple of inches to assist the drying process, which the Asko doesn't do. There can still be water collected on the bottoms of cups if they aren't seated at enough of an angle, but it's minimal (this goes for both DWs). I like the Rinse and Hold cycle on the Asko-- a quick 7-minute cycle that lets you dash a few items into the wash early and give them a head start on cleaning. I also like the Time Program, which lets you select a wash time of :15 to 2:30. The Asko also has options for single rack washes, upper or lower, and it comes with both a lower rack silverware basket that slides side to side AND a far upper cutlery tray. The Miele only has the upper tray for utensils.

I have put china through both DWs with good results (Miele had a china/crystal mode and Asko has a crystal/glass mode). I haven't run actual crystal through them yet, but I'm planning to (safer than our big clumsy hands).

Both are wonderful dishwashers, and I'd be very happy with the Asko alone if we were only installing one DW.

I don't feel a package is a good reason to stray from a Miele, which we use, or Bosch dw. Since I'd only consider induction Miele and Bosch would also be on my list for cooking. SZ is a good choice for the frig.

We've had three Asko's and have been extremely happy with them. I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

I have been cross shopping both and decided against Asko once I read about the company's ownership and changes. Also, if when I slide my fingers along the edges of the top & side of the doors, I feel the Miele has a higher build quality.

My Asko only lasted for 7 years. I purchased it in 2009. I paid just shy of 1300.00 for it. I replaced it with a quality KitchenAid, which is now 3 years old - running fine. We are in the process of a remodel and I will be putting in a proven Bosch and moving my KitchenAid to our cabin. I have to pay 20.00 to dispose of the Asko.

I do not advice any one to buy Asco brand as it looks heavy duty but in reality is not. i bought asko dish washer last year with 5 years extended worranty and broken down twice. i tried to cotact the service hardly respond and every service takes one month to fix the dishwasher. in the second time they sent me someone says it is my fault and need fix it on my charge and i sm still waiting for them to fix it every time i call the service they say we will back to you. i am thinking to do council clean up and get rid of it after i paid 2000$ for it last year

I hate my Asko!! This is my second one, silly me for falling for it twice! Soap dispenser rarely opens, so we’ve taken to just tossing in the pod. Top rack never dries and mold is a continuous problem. I have read all the forums, called for service and never solved the issues. Do NOT buy an Asko. Total POS.

What year was the first one built?

Their only saving grace was that they were being serviced by SZ/Wolf, but I don't think that is true anymore now that SZ/Wolf has their own (the Cove, which isn't that great either).

My Asko is about 14-15 years old and it is on its last leg. Had the repairman out and the part it needs is no longer available. After a series of disappointing Maytags, my Asko had been a great dishwasher and really quiet. I had planned on replacing it with another, but now I’m not sure with the ownership change?

Im happy with the entry level Miele I bought 1.5 years ago. But that model is no longer available. I would not buy Asko now. Either Bosch (if on a budget) or Miele.

Helpful to know, since tomorrow I’m off to buy a dishwasher!

Difficult time to be shopping because of shortages. Hopefully you can find something you like.

Thank you! Found an AGA floor model that could work. Trying to decide if it’s worth the extra $$ even though it’s discounted 🥴

    Which one is it?

amcttdw-wht? I also found a 300 series Bosch. Trying to stay white which makes the pickings even slimmer. I have white dacor double wall ovens and a white cabinet paneled side by side.

Never heard of that brand, but looks decent. The 2 things that I thought I should mention. The noise level for that model is 48 dB. Not sure what your old Asko was. My entry-level Miele is 46 dB. 44 dB is considered very quiet. Each 3 dB increase is a doubling of the sound level. If you care for the dishwasher to sit flush with your cabinets, then that might be something to look into. Miele sits flush with the cabinets. Most others have the door jutting out. There are some good posts here which might make you think about things you might otherwise overlook.

Do NOT buy an asko dishwasher!!!!

I’ve had mine 4 years and have never liked it!

It’s was part of a ” package “ and the worst appliance I’ve ever owned

Plus - they do not stand behind the product

Run! Do not walk from this product!

I have to apologize for this rant! The problem has been solved and the dishwasher is working again. Our trim was "made so perfectly" (comment of tech who came to the home) that the home settled ever so slightly requiring leveling of the door and all is working. I thought it best to apologize as opposed to deleting this original post. Thank you.

Installed an Asko dishwasher in our new home in lieu of a Cove as they had been recalled. Slow leak from left side LED light ruined the island which we had to replace. Asko repaired the dishwasher but claimed issue was caused by shipping and/or installation. Ironically it was their preferred shipper installer. Also rinse arm continuouly falls off. Replaced with a Bosch.

MY Asko dishwasher has broken down twice in less than three years. I would not recommend Asko to anyone.

I have a Miele and an ASKO. I bought the Miele for my kitchen and the outdoor rated ASKO for the outdoor kitchen. The Miele needed immediate service for a bad pump, but Miele fixed it, and it has run very well since then. The glasses and China come out of Miele looking cleaner and more sparkling than the day they were made. And the Miele is very quiet. I don't use the ASKO as much. It runs well and works great outdoors. It is pricey to get the outdoor electrical rating, but ASKO has corned the market on that feature and charges foer it. If I was buying another DW, I would get the Miele because of how nice the glasses and dishes look after a cleaning. Also, it seems solidly built and has nice cycle features. I haven't used most other brands, other than GE which work pretty well and cost less than a third of what the high-end Miele costs. If price is a primary concern, I would not hesitate to buy another GE.

Thanks for this- which model miele do you have? we ended up going with the Asko and I'm so unimpressed. Not going to change them right now... but starting my research over again lol

***Full Disclaimer - I have never written an online complaint or negative review for any business/product. This is personal since family members could’ve died from a defective Asko dishwasher which they knew was a known defective product.

STAY AWAY from Asko! An Asko dishwasher caught on FIRE, almost killed my parents, and Asko didn’t care and never honored the warranty.

These photos don’t even begin to describe the nightmare. My parents in their 70’s purchased an overpriced Asko dishwasher and used for some time. After starting their dishwasher one evening before going to bed, they LUCKILY smelled smoke while in bed and rushed to the kitchen to discover their Asko dishwasher was on fire and shooting flames out the front and sides. If they hadn’t luckily smelled the smoke their kitchen would’ve been in flames and they would’ve likely suffered serious injury or death had they been asleep. Thankfully the fire department visited their home in time and did their job.

After the appliance warranty people deemed the dishwasher as a total loss, I did some research and learned that Asko has a history of dishwashers catching on fire and have issued multiple recalls to avoid owners burning their house down. Google is a consumers friend! I reached out to Asko and addressed all of this in hopes of a resolution. To my surprise, their customer service department acknowledged the ”fires” but offered no reaolution and stopped replying to my emails. For a ”high end” appliance company, this was a shock. When you buy the Mercedes of dishwashers, this is unacceptable.

So glad your parents are ok! They handed over the “customer service” to another company. I’ve lost track - it’s been so annoying! Best day was when appliance guys pulled that nightmare out of my kitchen! If I could have- I would have ripped it out myself.

I wouldn't spend 5 bucks on an asko appliance, the warranty sucks and so do their products...pay top dollar and the thing breaks down and don't deal w pinnacle (dist branch) because they are a complete joke and a bunch of liars...we have an asko dishwasher paid top price breaks down as soon as 2 year warranty is up and their arm Pinnacle lies about it being ordered can't get you shipping info can't track it and then tells you its on backorder...I am in dist business and these guys are the biggest bunch of clowns I have ever seen

well originally I loved my ASKO Dishwasher. Have had it now about three years. Now not so happy at all. The start stop button will not work at all. Called Asko about the warrenty since it just over the three years. Boy they are no help at all. I was told they always honor service when I bought the machine. Well I have been

trying to get it fixed under warranty. Really two months over warranty. They are so happy to say "too bad so sad" No warranty. One man even couldn"t get me off phone fast enough. Made up some story if a professional installer installed the machine its exactly three years and if you did it its only two years. Funny store never disclosed that. Guess what miltiple people were rude and would not even try to help. I did get some ONE very nice person from a company who services them in my area she was only person so nice but said Asko has to give approval for them to fix machine othersise would be costly.

I will never buy one of these high end machines again. From now on will just go with normal cheap dishwashers every so many years. Really a thousand dollars for a piece of junk and many other people I noticed have issues for start and stop buttons.

In my basement I have an old Maytag dishwasher that is 22 years old and guess what it still works. Only problems are the racks are broken off in some places.

Love my Asko. Redid our kitchen 1.5 yr ago and got another one. Love it too. Very, very quiet. Quietest DW ever had. Does a good job cleaning. Don't know why others have had such probs.

Would not recommend the ASKO dishwasher. Purchased this dishwasher and had it professionally installed when we remodeled our kitchen in 2020. This is way pricier than the similar dishwasher, but we heard good reviews and decided to go for it.
It was a good dishwasher when it worked. Did a great job in cleaning and drying and is super quiet.
Unfortunately, it broke down on us 2.5 years later.
The customer service from this company is horrible to say it kindly.
They partner with Pinnacle Service in our area. Our unit is supposed to be in warranty for 5 years and so we contacted the company to get this repaired. Did not hear back from them after 4 weeks!
Cannot find any appliance repair to service this model even if I am willing to pay and the repair guys say that this was a terrible company to deal with for parts etc.
Ultimately, I had to trash this dishwasher and get a new one.
I would strongly discourage anyone else from purchasing this dishwasher.
BTW we had the model DBI664THXXLS.U

I have 4 year new home with two dishwashers. A Miele in the kitchen and a very expensive Asko on the patio. I paid twice as much for the outdoor rated Asko than I did for my Miele. I love my Miele. It cleans very well, is quiet and does a great but gentle job on my China and delicate crystal glasses. On the other hand, the Asko is constantly breaking even though it gets used only 1 or 2 times per month. Buttons on the panel keep breaking, controller broke, water leaks etc. And Asko service is horrible. Weeks to get back to you and then the "that's not covered on the warranty" excuse. Asko was once a top end brand but after several sales of the company the current owners have let quality go to hell along with the customer service. And what is amazing, they are still charging premium prices for their dishwashers. Don't bother with this brand.

I also HATE my ASKO dishwasher I have had my ASKO for 3 years. 2 months after warranty expired I had to replace the mother board. 8 months later I now have broken hinges on the door. There is one repair company in Colorado ($159.00) to drive to my house. If you buy an ASKO make sure you buy a extended warranty!! My last dishwasher lasted 25 years!! I found out the Chinese are now making ASKO. Not sure if that is why BUT the house I am building today will NOT have any ASKO appliances in it!!!!!!

Total junk- 2 years old and costing us 600 to repair. Always a problem, never drained or dried properly and now this! Never again.

  • last year

Junk- bought 2 top of the line and nothing but problems. Multiple service calls for drainage and drying issues, Of course 1 month after warranty expires the motor goes and 600 to replace. Never again....

It is a low-quality dishwasher. I highly recommend giving it a second thought before purchasing. We bought three for our company’s kitchens, but all of them had serious problems with the mechanical and electronic boards within two years of purchase. We spent a lot fixing them, but they failed again and ended up being recycled and replaced with a different brands for the same price, or even a bit cheaper. So far, we are happy with the new ones.

I installed 2 Asko’s in our new build simply because Bosch leadtime was too great (during COVID). Asko is a Wolf brand so I don’t have any issues with the quality. It’s super quiet (which is why I wanted the Bosch), has several cycles to choose from and seems to clean just fine. But I HATE the one I got. It’s a DFI664.U. Whoever designed the lower rack has apparently never done dishes before. EVERY tine is angled like the ”plate” section usually has but who ever fills up the bottom with all plates? It’s awkward and inefficient to put pans, bowls or even cups down there because they lean as they can sit flush against the rack because of the angled tines. Since I never even thought to consider this, I didn’t and regret it. Thank goodness I put 2 dishwashers in because I can’t fill one up like I used to because nothing fits right. The Brand is good. This model? Avoid like the plaque.

    @ HU-398052536

Asko is no longer being sold by Wolf (it was never a Wolf brand; they just had a partnership to resell and service them, but that is over now). Wolf now has their own brand of dishwasher called Cove.

    https://www.subzero-wolf.com/en/cove/dishwashers

The Cove itself has mixed reviews.

For dishwashers, best to stick with Bosch or Miele.

I have both a Miele and an Asko. I love the MIele and dislike the Asko. The Miele gets dishes very clean and the glass items sparkle. The Asko controls are confusing and the display is hard to read. The Asko cleaning is just average. Service is hard to get for the Asko which has failed several times.
