I have the same question. What is the manufacturer an product line for the automated retractable shades?

I heard back from the architects in a private message and they said the shades and mechanisms are from The Shade Shop in Houston, Texas (see link below). Unfortunately they only work locally.

I have since learned that several local and national companies that have roller shades (Levitron, for example) can make housing boxes for the shades that can be recessed into the wall. Shades are either battery operated or hard wired. Search for motorized roller blinds or Levitron dealers in your area. In my area, motorized shades (which can be recessed) can be installed by audio/visual/home theater or home automation dealers. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for the response about the motorized shades. I have a follow-up question: What is the overall Smart Home technology that allows the owners to control their shades, lights, etc., with their tablet? What are the various functions they are controlling with that technology?

I'm not sure. I think they can be controlled with a smart phone or tablet with a manufacture's app or home automation program like Control 4, but the dealers who sell the shades in your area will know for sure.
