Looks like a Navel to me! Is that typical of all the fruit on the tree? Maybe you got a Cara Cara instead?

Kelley, looks like Navel. At peak ripeness you will be able to tell what it is. As Dave suggested maybe Cara cara. I personally like them both. For my consumption I buy in stores only Navels from California. Our stores are loaded with Navel oranges from South Africa, I never get those, because they are very acidic and my enjoyment of the fruit is nonexistent. I don't know is it the soil or the care, that they turn out that way.

Denise said this is the first fruit to hang on and mature. I bet it’s a Cara Cara that was accidentally mislabeled. It’s still coloring up, so time will tell.

Sunshine, I tried a few navels from CA this year and found them to be dry and bitter. Perhaps I had a bad batch, I haven’t bought any oranges since. Our South Georgia Satsumas have hit the stores in my area and they’re very sweet and tasty. If I could get them across the border, I’d send you some :)

Kelley, I'd wager you just got a bad batch.

Also, it's still kinda early for good navel oranges, so maybe give them another try.
