I wound up throwing out 3 mandevillas because of those awful pests. We tried everything to kill them but they won.

Right now, I'm not seeing big enough infestations to compromise plants, but they seem to be on everything.

I had them something fierce in August, September and beginning in October..... I was fighting them everyday.... washing them down.... spraying and on the plants that I didn't eat from I used bayer granules...... The worst infestations were on my salvias and eggplant.... but it was so bad that I got them on milkweed.... which they aren't suppose to like and on my roses and hibiscus.

I am wondering if we got some new invasive species somewhere in Florida that then spread on the hurricane from the year before.......

I also had a terrible infestation of whiteflies.... that put black sooty mold on milkweed and roses.... it has been a terrible year fighting nasty insects.

And I can't forget the infestation of army worms I also had this year that destroyed my planter box annuals.

Ok so we threw out the old mandevillas, cleaned and disinfected the pots, got brand new ones and now the new ones have mealy bugs too.

Plus my petunias in my pots have white flies. Sigh.
