I got once per year flowering for many years from one kept in my house with no special treatment, not even particularly strong light.

It even managed to produce fertile seeds on occasion, that sprouted while still on the plant.

I had two clivias for years, and orange-flowered and a yellow. I left them out until temperatures dropped below 40..this chilling is important for bloom. Then brought them inside and they bloomed after a bit. They like to be pot bound. I barely watered them at all during their winter rest. Finally, they just got too big and heavy for me to move around and had to go.

Do you have a picture of the first plant so we can see if it is a clivia?

Mine was never chilled and bloomed every year.
