Aren't they amazing? You remind me that I need to check on mine in the basement. I try to hold them off blooming until March when I can let them spend time outside.

Just wrapped all mine up. Like Matthias I take them out in March so after they bloom they can go outside to get big and strong.

We have several in pots around the house, only two are as advanced as yours; the rest have not yet come above the fat stalky part of the bulb.

Amaryllis is my favorite flower, partly because they are so easy to grow! Every year I wait eagerly for the catalogs to arrive, to see what new colors are available, as well as old favorites. I love anything pink and anything Picotee.

But our soil and climate are all wrong for amaryllis, so it's strictly indoor plants for us!

if you just stand there and watch them a minute or two. I have a large pot with

4 bulbs and they are racing to see who can flower first. :) The gift card was taken off (on purpose), so I have no idea what color they will be...fun to think about.

Amaryllis were my mothers favorite flower. There are 2 huge beds of them here. One is just the old, common red ones, and the other bed is the newer, fancier varieties. They do well outside here.

I have a lot of them in my flower beds. I tried to dig up all the ones I had at the old house. I love them!

I grow them every year. Many varieties gifted by my mother. (her passion)

Every year for New Year night, I have a group of close friends for dinner to celebrate. We have a tradition that everyone will talk about their New Year's resolutions while watching the Time Square ball descent.

I decided to add a little decorative touch on the dinner table (Sorry, no dinner pictures. Just paper plates, beer bottles, etc.). I decided to have a blooming amaryllis display on the table. Few blossoms can be as spectacular as amaryllis.

Symbolically, amaryllis is about pride, strength and determination, qualities which I would like to be part of my New Year resolution.

I started out three months ago to time the bulbs to bloom on 12/31. Many of you know the steps you have to take to force the bulbs to bloom. The problem is how to time each step perfectly.

By the use of a precision temperature controlled chamber (pic #1 and #2), which I have, and high intensity LED lights (I posted some time ago), which I also have, I managed to have this timed to bring out to the table on 12/31/2019 - 1/1/2020 just when the Time Square ball dropped .

I have ten bulbs, I am timing each to have one blossom at a time. I hope to have amaryllis blooming the entire spring, everyday.
