So glad the prison grate is soon to be gone. The doors shown are very fitting. Suggest you play-up the contemporary design of your home with different landscaping.

If security is a concern in your area, choose a new door with a multi-point locking system.

A seven year old could have kicked in our original door, but the fiberglass replacement with multi-point locking system is very robust.

I like that with that house and I agree thank you for removing the prison bars.Are those windows behind the lattice or what ? Also I would not do those shutters on the window to the left.I also think new landscaping will have a huge effect on curb appeal.

there are not windows behind the lattice...it is just some kind of architectural decoration I'm assuming... I am wondering what it would look like to put Windows in those spots because that room is the main large living room and while the room has one whole wall of glass... doors facing a courtyard...the opposite outer wall is blank...it seems to me that those spaces wouldn't be hard to put Windows in

I'm loving your home more and more! Remove the ugly lattice, no need for windows in their place. Killer landscaping on that wall with carefully planned "up-lighting" is in order. The way you describe the interior is making me drool. Your home is all about "private views", not street views.

Since the bars are being removed I think that style of door would work well on your home. Not sure if you have looked into the price of an iron door, which is pricey and not thermally broken/not energy efficient, but aluminum might be a better route. You might be interested in our aluminum, multi-lock doors with double, triple, or quadruple pane glass. They are still pricey but much more affordable compared to iron. Plus, they have the same style you are going for and are customizable without additional cost.

You can add grids or mullions, frost the glass, etc:

thank you celerygirl...I'm so visual... I was thinking about taking those horizontal beams across the top over the doorway off... and is that just painting The brick White as opposed to whatever it is they called a slurry.

could I possibly mix a metal roof on just that little portion above the door?

what about replacing those areas to the right of the door with cedar wood... what would that look like and maybe a cedar beam across the front door opening and on top of the window on the left... also love the ceiling of the outdoor entryway done in cedar

wargo, i don't know if you've priced out those iron doors, but they're up in the 10K+ region, with about a 3 month wait.

you could do wood and paint it to look like that for 1/4 of the price.

however , if money is no object, I like the last picture.

I found those doors at a builders discount hardware store in Houston for $5,000... of course I don't know what it would cost to put them in.. money is always an issue ?

5K for those iron doors in the size you need? that's pretty good.

as for install, depending on who you get, could be anywhere from $500 to 2500. Depends if they have to make them fit or modify the jamb, or if they can just slide right in to replace what's already there.

they are the exact measurements of existing doors... so thinking they might just slide in...

okay here is what we've done so far ...and my question now is should I paint all the brick or just leave that one area to the left in the front the natural brick color for diversity or would it just look like I didn't finish the paint job? also I still have not come up with a good idea for those two rectangular areas to the right... incase anyone sees anything I'm missing... I love ideas and opinions

House is looking fantastic! Leave the left side brick as is. Have bricks added to the voids on the right wall so it's no longer an issue as suggested by @User. Again, when funds allow, rip out every bit of the existing landscaping and complete this fabulous makeover with stark modern plantings.

WOW and thank you to Glo European Windows &Doors...I love the brick idea....had thought of that but before seeing your picture I could not visualize it.. could you possibly show me a picture with all the brick painted...even chimney....votes are split half and half🙃 and wondering if filling in brick with different pattern (ex herringbone or like this picture) would add or detract....what do y’all think? And I totally agree chiflipper about the landscaping but I will have to research stark modern plantings....clueless.

I think there are enough textures and adding a separate brick pattern in the recessed places would be visually confusing.
