That certainly isn’t boring! It will take center stage. And be very permanent. Everything else will have to take its cue from it. As in the vanity color and floor tile. The wood strikes a wrong note. A painted green, pulled from the tile could work. Or pink, if you’re feeling especially bold. This could be a modern updated version of the classic pink bath.

If you want a less permanent commitment, a boldly patterned wallpaper, applied on properly prepared walls, could work for now and be changed over to your newest color obsession in a few years. IF you’re inclined to vary your affections rather than to permanently fall in love.

I like your point about wallpaper, and agree that may be a more sane choice. :-)

I do really like the tile, though.

I love bright and bold decor but I would not do tile. I think ProSource Memphis had the perfect suggestion. Wallpaper. If not wallpaper then maybe a stencil. IMO a stencil would be preferable because you just paint over it when you are done.

I went with bold tile choices in my bathrooms and I don't regret it a bit. I didn't want beige or brown or gray so why not go with something that brought me visual pleasure. I also have very distinctive (Choinoiserie) wallpaper :-).

In terms of your actual choice, I am finding them to be a bit choppy as the tiles don't form any kind of. pattern and seem to be completely random and separate design elements.

Those tiles remind me ofa puzzle I played as a child. You could move each square left, right, up, or down until you form the picture. I like the tile. It brings back memories.

I agree with Pro Source Memphis about pulling a color for the vanity from the tile. But if you really love it go for the tile - I would. My vote is for the random pattern instead of the mural; with door, medicine cabs, etc, it would be too broken up.

Okay, so if I want to start looking at wallpaper, I probably need to focus on vinyl, correct? Due to it being placed in the bathroom?

I like the tile! It will demand a maximalist’s immersion into the type of Victorian/Moroccan/Bohemian layering of pattern and color to make it work. If it’s the only stand alone bold thing, it will look lost and wrong.

You can put any kind of wallpaper in a properly ventilated bathroom. I have silk wallpaper in both my bathrooms and they are fine.

I have a Panasonic Whisper Fan that runs so long as it senses ambient moisture levels above a certain level. I don't even have condensation on my mirrors let alone enough lingering damp to cause issues on the walls.

Wow, Cook's Kitchen, those are not boring bathrooms!

So, if I go maximalist, I need something punchier than the below vanities?

I found the below maximalist inspiration picture that I think I could do something similar to... but instead of busy wallpaper, I would do busy shower tile...

I need to think on this a little more.

I won’t comment on the tile other than I would have nightmares trying to lay that to make any sense at all. I am concerned that the flooring is done before the design of the bathroom was figured out so hope you kept plenty of extra flooring to finish the floor. I like wallpaper it is not permanent like tile IMO your bathroom is not big enough to go maximalist and if you isist on those tiles than the whole rest of the space needs to be minimalist .

When I first saw the tile, I was thinking white walls and mid-tone wood vanity... Kinda minimal.

I think the tile could look great. I would let it be the star of the show and draw your colors from it. Maybe use the pastel color(s) in the tile when you are choosing your towels, soap, etc. to help compliment each other. I think as long as you use subtle hints of the pastel color throughout while letting the tile be center stage, it would look great!

You could put the fabulous patterned tile on a wall and the matching plain tile in the same line in the shower. In my area, redoing a tile shower runs about $7K (excluding new fixtures etc.). Redoing a plain wall would not cost nearly as much should you need to appeal to a broad market one day when you sell. Print out a bunch of tile photos as close as possible in size to the real thing, then tape them up to see where you like them.

I am offering general support for a wall of the colors that you love! Yes, wallpaper likely makes more sense. We are having a new house built, and our powder room (actually a 3/4 bath) has one wall, the wall with the toilet and sink, with a very distinctive tile. (Spouse hates wallpaper, so that option was vetoes.) The shower tiles are a 6 x 18 inch single-color. The house isn't finished yet, but I really love the look. So pick something you love, and enjoy!

Have you thought about using the tile like a feature wall behind your toilet and vanity? Then you can use a complimentary tile in the shower. Much easier to deal with and remove if you ever change your mind. I think the tile is wonderful but using it on the one wall may make it a bit less of a commitment.

I love that tile so much, but wonder where you imagine using it? It says it's rated for walls - does that include shower walls? In a small room, if not in the shower, then behind the vanity (but I wouldn't want a mirror to cover one square inch of it), or as wainscoting? Your wallpaper choices are equally fabulous! Can't wait to see what you do....what a wonderful respite from marble/gray/all look the same bathrooms we see on here.

Thanks, Oly... I was thinking of doing the three walls of the shower in the tile. And, on the website, I saw that this tile was recommended for Backsplash, Interior Wall, or Shower Wall.

I plan on visiting a tile store this weekend, and if nothing else jumps out at me, I think I will move forward with ordering this lively tile.

Find something that works with it for the shower floor before you commit to that in the shower. I’d almost do it as the entire wall wainscoting, and then a gloss pink paint above chair rail height. With some french molding under the gloss pink. Then pull the green for the vanity, and the gray that coordinates with the floor for the shower. Maybe a navy bullnose edge for the trim around the shower, and navy hex or penny for the shower niche. I’d absolutely paint the ceiling the gray that matches the floor.
