That appears to be a PAR20 bulb. Based on the information for these PAR20 bulbs, the color temperature is around 2900K so switching to a 3000K LED would be hardly noticeable. Amazon has these Satco PAR20 LED bulbs in several color temperatures; you might try 3500K and 4000K bulbs and see which you prefer. (Multi-packs available on Amazon too.) I'm using 3500K which is still somewhat warm.

Be sure to compare the lengths and diameters of new and old bulbs before buying.

That looks like a E26 PAR20 bulb, not sure if normal or short neck, if you take it to your local hardware store they should be able to point you in the right direction; remember that in order for a LED to work on a dimmer, the wall dimmer has to be LED compatible if not the bulb will just flicker when dimmed.

Usually 3000k is used in kitchens, the higher the Ks the blueish the light will be emitted.

IMO 4000K is the way to go for LEDs especially in kitchens I have those bulbs in my hood fan and switched to 4000K LED Almost all bulb types come now in LED and 4000K mimics bright daylight .Yes you will need to find dimmable LEDs and change the dimmer. I actually never use a dimmer in my kitchen but I have my lighting on different switches .

I would not go all the way to 4 k, just washes everything out I like 2700 but im old school so I would buy 3 different color temps, 2700, 3500 and 4000, put them all in and see what you like ..........par 20, LED have to have a dimmer that pairs with them, which is not a big deal but it is a change that has to be made.

Thanks all. Not sure we are up for changing our current Lutron dimmer (unless it's something a non-electrician could do). Would it be awful to stick with the halogen for now (and perhaps try a 3500K)? I don't find the lighting too bad in the kitchen (it's small and I have undercabinet lights too).

You do not need an electrician to change a dimmer. Also, your existing dimmer may work with LEDs. I've had good luck with the Lutron MACL-153MH-WH Maestro C.L Dimmer Switch. Or you may not even need a dimmer and can substitute a switch for the old dimmer.

Lighting is entirely a matter of personal preference and at some point you can go bonkers deciding on color temperature. If you like what you have now, just replace the bulb with one just like it. The average American home spends about $11 per month in lighting, the savings of an LED bulb or three in your kitchen is trivial.

Thank you everyone. I'll try not to overthink. Maybe my dimmer will work on LED (my others have so far as I've replaced bulbs). I'll try one and if it's a no-go, will replace with same/similar.
