This is my first time ever seeing guns displayed as dining room art. It is a different spin on gallery wall design, I guess. Guns and kids toys (are those toys???), what a great combo.

I usually have at least an appreciation for the very idea of an art installation, but that dining room makes me feel physically ill.

It just hit the market for $5.75M. Maybe this is the decor his home stager suggested. According to this article, the furnishings are included.

Dr. Phil's son that wanted to be a rockstar lives in it. Looks appropriate, a pretend edgy palace. Needs moar Jeff Koons balloon animals and moar cowbell.

So clearly many of you didn’t actually read the article! Dr Phil never lived in it. His son did. It’s a complete cheesy bachelor pad put together by someone who just did whatever they wanted. It’s absolutely not to my taste but who actually cares? It’s hardly a reflection of Dr Phil that his son can’t decorate a home to meet my standards.

Well, I don't know that the son decorated it. It's owned by the Trust, so it could have been anyone, but someone decided it was okay and that person needs their head examined. Not by Dr. Phil.

Why do they need their head examined? Because you don’t like it? Who cares what the house looks like

Not my taste and I doubt it is Dr. Phil's taste either. It is the taste of his son who decorated to HIS taste when he was in his twenties.

The decor matters not one whit because anything would have been gutted and remodeled anyway in Beverly Hills.

They didn't show any bathrooms - even the master bath nor the kitchen so it would be interesting to know what those are like. And by not listing I mean not listed in the actual Hilton and Hylan listing. Real estate listings almost always include bathrooms and kitchen pictures. Not to include makes it even more certain that the realtor assumes it is a gut remodel.

It's a pretty good marketing tactic. The listing popped across my phone as a "Bizarrely decorated home owned by Dr. Phil trust hits the market" earlier today. Agree with you Helen about the gut remodel.

A far more "shady" description by the estalker - if price history is correct, they obviously recognize that this is essentially unlivable since it is essentially being sold for the same - or probably less - than what they paid for it in 2007. Real estate prices in Beverly Hills have declined somewhat in the past year but the price should still have been more than what they paid in 2007

A remarkably wacky house in the mountains above Beverly Hills recently popped up for sale with $5.75 million asking price, as was first spotted by the L.A. Times. Crammed to the gills with a seemingly nonsensical cacophony of random doodads and bric-a-brac — there are lavender sofas, angry stuffed anime figures and a glass-encased gun wall — the campy structure last sold in early 2007 for just under $5 million.

Although the property is technically owned by stalwart talk show host Dr. Phil and his longtime wife Robin, the pair have never actually lived in this house; rather, the effusively decorated villa was purchased for and has long been occupied solely by Jordan McGraw, the couple’s younger son. And McGraw, a 33-year-old aspiring singer who previously opened for the Jonas Brothers while on tour, has seen fit to unleash his decorative sensibilities in an appropriately rockstar-worthy manner.

Invisible from the street and privately sequestered at the end of a long driveway — behind whimsical gates that appear hewn from mangled tree branches — the half-acre lot offers a roomy motorcourt and a three-car garage. The tropically inspired grounds are lavish and exquisitely maintained, with lush lawns, mature palm trees, sculpted hedgerows and a cabana with an outdoor fireplace and alfresco dining area.

From outdoors, the house itself appears to be a rather ordinary Tuscan-style McMansion; inside, however, the 6,170 sq. ft. beige manor is an eye-popping hot mess of lurid colors, clashing textures and assorted decorative debauchery. There’s a soaring foyer with a staircase whose banisters appear to be covered in slithering snakes, a vaguely medieval wet bar with chairs that would not look out of place in “Lord of the Rings,” and a moody dining room with the aforementioned gun display case and an oversized anime pig. Other interior spaces are jammed in an offhanded manner with random figurines and artifacts that include a Kelly Wearstler bowl, a vintage Louis Vuitton trunk and multiple Star Wars action figures.

It’s not clear who is in the market for a nearly $6 million mansion decorated in such a brazenly bizarre manner, though the listing gently implies that a future owner may want to rip everything out and start afresh. “[The] eclectic finishes can be kept or transformed into your own vision,” according to digital marketing materials.

As for Dr. Phil and his wife, they currently reside in a larger and far more traditionally-decorated estate elsewhere in the so-called Beverly Hills Post Office neighborhood. Purchased way back in 2010 for just a few hairs under $30 million, that place includes a 15,000 sq. ft. main mansion with a lighted tennis court and detached guesthouse.

Well. It isn't a turd brown man cave, and it's not an open concept gray and white farmhouse. It is pretty darn ugly anyway.

It is interesting to me that the exterior, including the pool area seem very neat, and dare I say it, normal.

The interior is a hot mess. I would question the mental stability of the owner. In reality, it looks like a case of not supervising the decorator and no budget limitations. I've seen something like this a Junior League show house when one of the designers goes a little overboard.

I think you care about how it's decorated when you are looking to buy. The outside looks good and you can't wait to get inside and when you do.....Oh Boy!

"Who cares how people decorate their homes?" I don't know that I care - but I'm certainly entitled to have an opinion. That, after all, is the whole point of participating in these discussions in the first place. I don't like the decor, I said so, and I said why. I shouldn't have to defend or justify my comments.
