What Have You Been Doing Today?

I have not done a lot today, took a nap and doing some laundry for oldest daughter while they do my grocery shopping. I will have my supper in awhile and it will be chicken and noodles and mashed potatoes plus some apple salad I made awhile ago. I will send some of the apple salad home with her. We fix food and share from time to time. How has your day been?

Sue

We slept late today so I am running a bit behind. I'm going to spend most of the day packing/preparing for our upcoming vacation. I have some ironing to do for hubby; he likes these collared shirts that are made of cotton and they wrinkle like crazy. I'll have to touch them up when we arrive at our destination. Me, I'm not taking anything that wrinkles - if it wrinkles, it's staying home!

Laundry this morning, DH is eating last night's leftover chicken noodle soup right now, and we will be leaving in about an hour to babysit the Grandbabies. When we get home it will be more leftovers - shepherd's pie. My New Year's resolution is that if I am going to keep the leftovers they will get eaten rather than become science experiments!

What have I been doing? Not enough. The past 2 days were chilly and rainy. Today started off sunny, but windy and cool. I have been laying around, watching TV with the kittens. I just realized it is time to start my evening chores, which typically take about an hour and a half. I am sleepy and I would like to take a nap, but I need to go out and feed the horses, dogs and cats. I filled the bird feeders this morning, but will probably check on them again. I think the wood ducks I saw the other day at the pond down the road, have discovered the milo I put on the ground for the doves.

Did my usual morning visit to my other and took care of a few things while I was there. I got a really late start because I did t wake up until 9:30! After mom’s I came home and did a little, clean up plus lunch. Then it was off to the mall to return a couple things so I ended up traipsing around looking for shoes and a new handbag but instead I bought a new sweater and eyeliner. Now home and I am pooped.

I am feeling very content and productive. For the past couple of days, I have been cleaned and organized the riverhouse while DH took down a ceiling in one of the bedrooms. Sounds counterproductive to clean while he was making a mess, but it worked out. The weather was mild and sunny, so I pulled the dead annuals from the garden beds. Traveling and being ill caused me to be behind on the garden chores. I also tried to teach myself to crochet beyond the chain stitch for the millionth time. I have looked for lessons locally, but the schedules do not work for me. I did finish a book, The Bookseller, that I have renewed 3x from the library. Today, I drove home in the rain.

My granddaughter is home from college and she came and helped me (I mostly watched) clean the garage. She put some things in the attic for me and took a truckload of stuff to goodwill. We then went out for lunch. It was nice spending time with her and boy is she a worker.

Started the day letting the dog, chickens and ducks out, putting out feed, scratch and water for all. Cleaned up, grabbed a pb & homemade preserves sandwich and was ready when my neighbor picked me up for my first day of training as a floater in Merchandising with the company she works for. Got home after four to let the dog out again then fed her, changed clothes and had chicken & dumplings around five. After a phone conversation with another neighbor, it was time to lock the chickens and ducks up in their coops. Cleaned up again and watched the news. I'm doing nothing else this evening other than watch a little tv, maybe have a dish of ice cream, love on my dog, Zara the Terrible, when she wakes up from her after dinner nap and go to bed early.

I went to visit a friend this morning and had a nice visit. Today is my birthday so I had some phone calls and talked more on the phone then usual. Our son was going to come down this morning but he changed his mind because it was icy. I finished one of my rugs that I make, and made some tiger meat that still needs doctoring up. I had to have DH taste it because I still can't taste anything because of my bell's palsy that is almost a year old.

I got my e visa for a trip in March, put the same calendar/organizer on my new laptop and added all the yearly dates. Whew, that took a lot of time. Then, after lunch a bike ride to the post office (mailed a birthday card to Australia) and finally some yard work.

Walked to Sprouts for a loaf of bread, and took the long way home to garner some more steps.

    Now, I need a shower and my pj's. ;)

    bengardening.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

We drove to Denver, 1.5 hrs one way to put DH's new truck in the shop while listening to "the best of Howard Sterns 2019 Interviews". Hillary Clinton, Demi Moore & Paul Rudd. Ate breakfast @ McDonalds. Walked = 10500 steps. Rented a movie.

Started off the day chatting by phone with a (very) distant cousin that I met at the family reunion last summer - we hit it off - and made plans to get together next month. Emailed back & forth with another cousin; arranged to have some items that I am selling on craigslist picked up tomorrow, and to meet another buyer this afternoon; ran a carload of stuff to the VoA thrift store, came home and loaded more & took the Habitat ReStore, then stopped at the big box store to pick up a special order. Picked up a new pair of glasses, met the buyer, and lastly went to the bank and post office.

After cooking supper, took out the trash and wheeled the cans to the curb - pickup tomorrow. Now I'm settled in with a mug of tea and ready to watch more Dr. Who.

I hope it stops raining so I can get a long walk in tomorrow. It's only been raining since last evening, but it feels like it's been raining for 10 straight days.

    Happy birthday bengardening!

Started off day cleaning closets. Then off to Goodwill with a huge load. While cleaning started looking at my quilting fabric. Decided to start another quilt. Spent most of day quilting. Have to stop and rest these old eyes.

Went to water aerobics, finished de-xmasing outdoors, re-potted a few succulents but most of my soil was soaked in the bag.

DH noticed me fidgeting so we threw together a picnic lunch and took the new car for a drive out to Lake Sonoma. BEAUTIFUL! Sunny, but cool. Too cold to put the top down.

glenda-al Found out you can get 3,000 steps on your fit-bit by playing 2 hours of ukulele! Give it a try on a rainy day! ;)

I'm so sad...I took down all the the Christmas decorations, inside and out, including the tree. I've packed it all away until next year. I did take a walk to the store to pick up missing ingredients for dinner; the exercise was a good idea.

Slept all day, then got up for work. I stopped at publix on the way and picked up 4 dozen mini cupcakes, half vanilla, half chocolate. It's my birthday and I usually bring some sort of goodies to share if I am working.

I spent part of the night taking down some of my Christmas decor at work. It's so depressing to see it go and to return to the off white cinder block walls of everyday life. And I stumbled upon a dead mouse in the closet where I keep the decorations. Luckily, there was an abundance of brave men handy to remove it for me. Anyway, I still have quite a bit to do to undecorate. Hopefully it will be done by monday.
