i had generic Cs in livonia .... they became a reseeding nightmare just falling to the ground ... with their unique leaves.. it wasnt hard to tell what they were.. not to mention the skunky smell when brushed ....

if you try.. you might just try making a spot in the garden... and just sowing them straight to the ground ...

No. They need heat to germinate so I generally don't get started on cleomes till April or even May. I treat them like morning glories, zinnia and tomatoes - better to wait a bit as they don't seem to appreciate any sort of check on their growth because it is still too chilly.
