Since the weather here in NW WI has been decent in the 40s, I've been slowly rebuilding this Bolens 38 inch mower deck I recently aquired. 2 years ago I picked up a 42 inch deck which I have been using but it was always problems and something going wrong. I found out the PO of that deck put the spindles together wrong. All 3 were missing a spacer that goes between the bearings and that has messed up one of the shafts and the blade hub adapters. It also fried the brand new bearings after 2 years. I got this 38" deck with a parts tractor I bought and after researching parts cost it was cheaper to rehab this deck instead of the 42". Right now I'm just waiting on the drive pulley and a blade hub. I'll be using the gearbox off the 42" deck since its in way better shape. I know it's missing the rear baffle but I'm not too worried about that. All the bearings are good and everything is solid. My only concern is the blades are NLA since 2012. Doesn't make much sense being these are still commonly used tractors. I found NOS blades for $140. Yikes.
