What points to a Vanda or similar is the leaves coming off a single central and vertical stalk of some length (plant is leaning sideways). Instead of forming a clump built from horizontal creeping rootstocks.

The small plants growing out of the moss do not look particularly like orchids.

Hi Embothrium - Thank you! I believe I have identified the 'pups' that he gave me. Definitely are not orchids. They are aerial plants: Tillandsia usneoides (or some other species of Tillandsia).

I will come back to visit him in three or four weeks. Hoping that the flower will open by then. Again, appreciate everyone's help on identifying. :)

So I went back and was able to get some snaps of the orchid in bloom. It has a slight aroma to it. The flowers were gorgeous!

Your vanda Likes a lot of sun and water every day. They are warm loving so keep it above 50.
