I do have two questions. What’s wrong with the Edgeworthia and can I do anything about it?

was it new last year ... then bloomed prolifically ... then has been down this year???

i have found it not uncommon.. that the first year they go bonzo ... then regress a bit the second.. i often wondered if it was because they were on steroids.. hyperfertilized in the pot ... and then they have a down year ... i note you said it doubled in size last year ...

also ... annuals aside.. i have found that flower production is variable.. year to year ... dependent on so many variables ... so its not really a matter of concern ... that a down year rolls around ...

and of course.. what if any weather problems might have happened.. since the plant set those flower buds.. whenever that was ????

flowering is a bonus show... to the general overall health of a plant ... im not sure i would worry too much.. if any given year.. they dont perform to expectation ... you really arent going to see if there are any problems.. until it leafs out in spring ... and if that is normal ... then you are all set ...

We did have a few nights in the low 20’s F in November. I guess now I know to go throw a sheet over it if it’s getting really cold. This is it’s second full year in the garden and it seems happy with its placement. It managed to bloom well this past spring, i thought it could handle the cold better. The flowers are so delightful when they bloom.

I suspect cold damage also.

Here’s a pic from across the yard this morning. Some of the lower flowers are blooming, the upper ones are rotting away. Cold damage looks like the likely culprit. The lower ones were probably protected or hadn't budded out during that cold spell in November. Note the daffodil blooming in the background!

This is what it looked like December 1 last year. I think the cold snap was mid-late November. The flowers started dying soon after this.
