    Thank you!

One question: What species of wood is that—white oak? How is it finished?

Maple. It was stained and finished with A flat, somewhat rustic finish that has slightly less sheen than a satin finish.

It’s gorgeous! I can tell you paid attention to detail. I love the pull out drawer for your hair tools.

Thank you KR! That is not the best picture to represent what it is. It is actually the sink front that i had the cabinetmaker put hinges on so I can use it as a makeshift vanity ledge on occasion when i want to sit to do hair and makeup. I have a stool i pull over for those occasions. Most of the time I just use the makeup mirror on the wall. I do have drawers for storing hair tools and toothbrush, paste, floss and deodorant under the sink. See the picture attached.I have a heat resistant white mat in the drawer for hot tools. The other picture shows the stool I store in the bathroom for occasional use when i want to sit for hair and makeup or use it to hold whatever when using the bathtub.

Beautiful and thanks for chiming in on my thread!

I don't see the toilet in any of the pics above - where is that located?

I plan to take notes on many of the things you did! Really like the ledge! What are the extra levers for in the shower? I assume one is a diverter b/w the 2 heads. One is on/off/temp. And ?

StarCraft-Thanks so much!! Your approval means alot to me. I read your advice frequently along the way. Thank you for your help.

What did you use for your shower base? Is it tile or a solid surface?

seosmp-Thank you!!. Sorry I missed including a picture of the toilet!! The toilet is to the left when you enter the bathroom across the room from the vanity.

My husband is not a fan of niches. We started thinking outside the box and then really liked the details we could add by using a ledge (moulding, etc).

The 2 smaller valves are one for the overhead showerhead and the other for the handheld shower. The larger middle valve is for the temperature. So nice to be able to reach in and turn whichever you want to use without getting wet or having to play with the temperature.

Daratwist-shower base was a wet bed prepared by my saint of a tile guy (so patient and just as meticulous as I am) and covered with 12x24 in Daltile porcelain tile and an infinity drain.

Hi P M, what a lovely bathroom. I would love to soak in that tub and look out to the woods. Beautiful finishes in the shower. The shelf is nice. the marble on the wall is really pretty.

Thanks enduring!! I used your info and some other to create the pullouts under the vanity. Unfortunately the amish cabinetmaker was not very well versed in electricity so my husband had to redo some of the cabinetmaker's work. But in the end I am very pleased.

I'm doing that ledge in my next shower, instead of a niche.

Details on the towel warming drawer?

    last modified: 5 years ago

HI Weedyacres! Nice choice on the ledge!!!

The towel warming drawer is by Dacor. It is an indoor/outdoor unit. Not sure if they currently make this model but it is actually a kitchen warming drawer that has/had the option for using it for towels if you use an additional towel rack that is placed in the bottom of the drawer. https://www.dacor.com/products/collections/heritage/warming-drawers/heritage-24-indoor-outdoor-warming-drawer

Gorgeous! What a daring move to have that shower front and center! I'm currently redoing a guest bath and have chosen the Kohler Iron Plains 5400 as well. How easy/durable has the undermount installation been? I have a deep Kohler cast iron laundry sink, but it is drop in. Also, the ledge is fabulous! I too dislike niches and will be doing the same - ledge on same wall as shower controls. How deep is your ledge? Looks to be about 4", and was wondering if you thought that was sufficient, or wished it had been a bit deeper.

Your attention to detail definitely paid off!

HI Mrsperykville! Thanks for the compliment...glad you like it. The usable ledge surface space is 3 1/4 in. The ledge is 3 1/2 in if you include the edge. I think the size of the ledge is 4 in but 1/2 in is set into the wall. I found the 3 1/4 in of surface space to be perfect. It is deep enough for soap and bottles but unobtrusive and doesn't take up additional space in the shower since the handles stick out just as far.

The iron plains sink is great. The contour is such that it allow toothpaste etc to easily wash down the drain. Periodically I wipe the sink with a lysol wipe to keep it clean. I really love the sink.

Norwood architects...thank you so much for the compliment again!! It means a lot to me coming from a pro especially since we served as the designers and contractor and my husband did the framing of the false shower wall along with the electrical work, insulating etc.

Thanks Chessie!! Green was my husband's suggestion. I started looking at the greens then decided to go bold and take inspiration from the colors of the leaves and bark that are visible from the bathroom windows.

Hey, I know this is an older post, but were you worried about the lack of an access panel for the shower? I'm curious what your plumber and/or contractor said about this. Working on our bathroom now (plumbing on exterior wall), and trying to figure the best way to handle this. Thanks!

HI-we did construct a false wall so we could try to get in from the side for some basic work and we also have shutoff valves in the bedroom closet.
