HELP! design dilemma! dark, north facing master bedroom paint

Just moved into a house and the master bedroom is the perfect combination of all things challenging to furnish and look cozy. It is very long, narrow, darklit, high ceilings, north facing. I want to find a paint color that will look good in this space..

We have more contemporary/transitional/mcm decor. Hoping to put a high wall to wall shelf over the bed. Remove the curtain, and install pendant lights or wall sconces that have some texture.

The wall facing the bed, has one large closet with sliding mirrored doors. The window in the picture is the only window in the room :(

I’ve been researching paint colors for weeks and I just can’t decide how to warm it up but keep it modern.

All suggestions welcome!

I dont like the idea of a wall to wall shelf or any other shelf over a bed. I have visions of something coming down and landing on the occupant or occupants of that bed. I do like the color and sconces etc, in the post above by Laura. It looks great. I also would want draperies on the window. The rods should be moved out a bit, so it looks wider and put the draperies on and pull to the sides, so the window itself is open. Paint one wall white and then view it for a day or two in all lights and see just how it works in your room.

I like the idea of an accent wall to perceptually shorten the room and make it less like a bowling alley, but I wouldn’t use white in a north facing room because it will look cold and gray. You also could paint the ceiling in a warm accent color. What colors are you using in the rest of the house? Look for a way to make the bedroom harmonize, and if there’s a master bath, coordinate the colors with the bedroom to create a master suite.

Our master bedroom is also north facing with one window and high ceilings. I just had it repainted this past summer and went with SW Cotton White with SW Pure White trim. We love it, it feels bright but cozy. I tested several creamy whites to see them in different lighting throughout the day before I selected this one. I should also mention that we have a lot of trees in front of the window and at certain times of the day there’s a light green cast on the wall color, but this wasn’t an issue for me. Just something to keep in mind.

I have a tiny, north facing bedroom and researched paint colors for weeks. I went with Farrow and Ball's Pale Powder (had Benjamin Moore match it) and I love it. It lightens up the room and I think it looks great at all times of day.

Thank you all, I love all of the suggestions and am still pondering, hesitant to fully commit. Now I am debating whether I should get rid of the headboard altogether and buy a new one? We wanted night stands... but the space only allows for 11 inches so we are actually using plant stands for now. Open to more suggestions, if we got rid of this headboard, what type do we buy? Metal framed headboard? Modern wood headboard?
