Matching kitchen runners?

We need 2 kitchen rugs, one larger 2x10 between sink and island and one 3x5 in front of oven. Should they just be the same design? If not, what should we do to make sure they complement each other and not clash? most likely going to do a Ruggable rug.

I'd get 2 runners in similar styles and colors. What type of look do you want? Ruggable runners are offered in traditional Persian styles, geometrics, large scale patterns, Boho, tribal, abstract, etc., as well as variations in color. Do a search for the style you like and then select 2 that work together. Post them here for more advice if you are unsure.

Yes, go to www.ruggable.com and you'll be able to match both sizes.

I agree about Ruggables, looks like you have a good amount of space. They’re great, you can throw them right in the wash. I would get 2 of the same.

Such pretty floors. Why cover them up with area rugs?

I am sorry, I think you should leave the floors bare. Your kitchen is very decorative with the corbels, glazed cabinets, island, counters, cabinets of different woods, and beautiful wood floors. Often people use rugs in kitchens to add color and interest to a bland kitchen which you do not have. Also, cleaning the rugs of drips and crumbs is an extra chore to add to your list, even the most cleanable rugs, you'll still need to do it. They can get matted and spotted over time if you procrastinate cleaning them, and that looks worse than not having them at all. Versus a wood floor you just wipe or swiffer in a second.

I love rugs in the kitchen. They are a great way to add style and personality. They warm up the space, protect the floors in traffic areas, add color and pattern and cushion the feet. Most medium-priced rugs are polypropylene and are bulletproof. You can put the smaller sizes in the washer and even drag them outside to hose them off.

That being said, I would never get a light color for the kitchen or any high traffic area for that matter. Can you share a photo the entire kitchen?

Please see rest of the kitchen (we just moved in). The kitchen is beautiful but we are more modern people. I like the idea of rug, cozier on feet and helps with slips and falls as we have young kids which is why ruggable appealed to me. What runner style would work well with a kitchen like this? I liked the Persian styles in ruggable (not my usual taste at all) but now maybe something a little more simple would work well so as to not make it too busy. We will also add a rug in the open dining area (dining room table not purchased yet).

Pretty kitchen, and as one who has a runner in hers, I understand why people like them in that room. I would only do one runner in your space - between the sink and island. A Persian would work well with your existing elements, but will definitely be a more traditional look. That said, I can't really envision anything modern in this space.

Color would really depend on what else you'll have going on in this area, as your current color scheme is very neutral.

Since they're washable, you may want one in the dining area too. They work off the same basic color palette, so you could use matching ones in the kitchen and a different pattern in the same colorway for the dining area. How open is your home? What fabrics/textiles are in the adjoining spaces? Coordinate the colors, then get patterns you love. Here is a new arrival in paprika that I like. Persian/tribal.

I have a set of lighter rugs for summer and a black set for winter. I do not like the darker set for practicality. I like the contrast but they show every little spec of grass, dirt, food, erc. I haven't put them down this year because of that. Pick a happy mid tone color.

If your worried about slips and trips from looking at the independent reviews about the ruggable it isn't what you want . The biggest complaint about them is that after a couple washing and dryings the edges curl up. Area rugs are a trip hazzard to begin with let alone ones that curl up on the edges. A small washable rug is usually all you need in front of a sink to keep water from creating a slip hazzard.

You can weight the corners of rugs by taping silver dollars or something equally thin and heavy on them. You can also add a non-skid pad under the base for the rug.
