If you’re putting lamps on the nightstands then definitely remove the sconces. Add tall rectangular mirrors to cover where the sconces were. You can still add artwork over the headboard

No need to patch if you use mirrors. Just cover the electrical boxes with plate covers. Then hang mirrors on top.
