Unfortunately, the top of your picture seems to be cut off. We can only see about a foot of the area above the headboard. Not enough to see what you’re working with here.

Both pictures show the whole bed, including the dog, but that’s not helpful. 😉

Yes. I agree with 2pups. The starburst is all you need, as it’s of good size. And lower it.

I would also move the swing arm lamps so that they are to the side, not above the headboard.

The starburst is too small for the bed. You need a larger piece of art (not a mirror if there are 16 maps on the opposite wall!!!) for over the headboard. It should be rectangular in shape. Get rid of the side art pieces.

can you show the map wall and the other walls as it looks like you have more art where the desk is. i ask to get a better understanding of your style. I could see a beautiful piece of art with an ocean vibe above the bed. I say that because you mention map wall and your bedding has a calm, very oceanic feeling to me.

Theresa, yes, I will post pictures. The desk is likely moving to another room and being replaced by a narrower, drop leaf table. Interesting idea regarding ocean art. We live on a mountain overlooking a very large lake. The map wall is a map of that lake.

always a good idea to search local art shops and pick something that is meaningful. I have a piece of art in my house of a farm. the art is simple and has a crisp and a bit of a modern vibe to it. i love it because i grew up on a farm. I found the artist on etsy.

Cleaner wall behind bed. We agree less is more. Not sure how much to lower starburst, though. Also agree wall lamps need to be moved out. Job for hubby!

I don't think you need any art on the sides of the mirror, but my main reason for posting here is in regard to the framed map pieces. I love it! I'm guessing it's of a lake area special to you? Did you frame the pieces or was it purchased that way? Just curious!

Thank you, jay06! We made those ourselves by downloading maps from the US Geological Survey, printing them and framing them. Our house sits in just about the center of the map area, overlooking the lake.

your map art looks fabulous!!! I definitely think art of some type of water scene would look great above your bed. also love your antique pieces. is Okinawa a special place and if so, would some type of Japanese art have special meaning for you?
